Skype updated to give a better call experience and other UI enhancements

Skype has just received an update that adds a better designed calling experience along with some other enhancements and fixes. If you frequently use Skype for messaging, the update also brings with it quicker ways to clear out messaging histories.

The update also includes bug fixes and enhancements such as changes to chats so they now appear in the right order.

The new version is already live in the App Store and if you're a frequent Skype user, we'd recommend picking it up. The new interface looks a lot better than the old one in our opinion and makes much better use of screen real estate. Let us know what you think if you've already grabbed it.

The new update to the app replaces the "video call" button with a "video message" button; and the video camera option is crossed out (not available!). It doesn't seem like the new app can be used to make video calls anymore. Is this true?

Cindy Bender says:

Never mind- I discovered my problem was choosing a contact, but not through the skype contacts tab.
