Hot on the heals of Instagram's new big update that includes a new filter -- not to mention their removal of Twitter card and embed support! -- Twitter has released an update to their iPhone app that allows you to add filters to your photos when sharing them to Twitter. They even made a fancy video to show off the new feature and teach you how to use it. The filters are a result of a partnership with Aviary; they are responsible for powering Twitter's photo filters and effects.
Google is on a roll today; this morning, they updated Gmail for iPhone and iPad and now YouTube has been updated with optimization for the iPad and iPhone 5, AirPlay support, and more. All three of these have been huge user requests, so this is great news.
The Starbucks app for iPhone has finally been updated to support the iPhone 5's larger display. Starbucks has also added back the sound effect that was removed when stars were added to your cup. For those who don't like the sound, they can disable it in the Settings section.
Facebook has started rolling out a new photo sync featuring with the Facebook for iPhone app that allow users to choose to have all the photos they take with their iPhone automatically upload to their Facebook account, similar to what Google Plus already has in place. For those not interested in sharing every photo you take, don't fret, all you photos will automatically be set to private until you manually select which ones you want to share.
Google Drive for iPhone and iPad has been updated with improved collaboration and on-device sharing. Users can now create, edit, and collaborate on spreadsheets and upload to Drive with other apps using "Open in..." There is also a new Uploads section that allows you to manage upload progress and see recent uploads.
Sparrow, the email client for iPhone that was recently acquired by Google, surprisingly received an update that includes support for the iPhone 5's larger display and the ability to open Passbook attachments. The is surprising because with the acquisition, the developers said that there was no plan to release new features to the Sparrow apps.
