HAPIfork hits Kickstarter, lets you use your iPhone to help develop healthier eating habits

HAPIfork, the smart dining utensil we first saw at CES 2013 has finally found its way to Kickstarter and is now available for your backing pleasure. The concept is simple enough: HAPIfork includes some clever tech that measures how fast you're shoveling food into your mouth, and if it determines you're eating too fast, the handle vibrates to remind you to slow down and better enjoy meal. Since eating too fast has been correlated with weight gain -- essentially because the brain can't tell you your stomach is full fast enough -- slowing down can lead to better health and weight control. It's February and you know what that means? Mobile Nations Fitness Month! That's when we all get together to get in shape, share tips and tricks and recipes for success, review amazing apps and accessories, give away great prizes, and have a ton of fun! This year we're doing it a little differently, though. We're doing weekly themes, and that means every week you'll have new and exciting challenges, and new chances to win!

Week 2: Nutrition!

You know the old saying, you are what you eat? It's a cliche because it's true. Food is what gets us going and makes us run. Eating the right foods can improve the way we look and feel, how we handle stress and how we make it through the day. New Years is over, January has come and gone, and for many of us, our get fit and get healthy resolutions have come and gone with it. Rather than leaving them lying in ruin with what's left of our waist lines and good intentions, however, we want to do something about it. And we want you to do something about it with us!

Whether CrackBerry challenged Android Central, WPCentral threw down the gauntlet on webOS Nation, or iMore called them all out, who remembers? The important thing is this -- we're using February to get off our collective apps and get into shape.

Think about it -- mobile is where it's increasingly at for health and fitness. Our iPhone go everywhere we go and are the perfect way to record everything from our activity to our diet to our sleep cycles. And our iPads let us look at all that data on a bigger screen and really see where we are and where we need to be. Mobile has become lifestyle.
