Adobe Carousel hits the App Store

Adobe has released their photo management and editing app Adobe Carousel, today. With Adobe Carousel, you can keep an updated photo library on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It even comes with some basic editing tools to help improve the look of your images.

One of the other big features of Adobe Carousel is the ability to create a family photo library for sharing photos with family so that they can contribute their own photos and vote on favorites.

After the 30 day free trial, Adobe Carousel requires a paid subscription for $9.99/month or $99.99/year. However, Adobe is currently offering a special for $5.99/month or $59.99/year.

Adobe announces Photoshop Touch and Creative Cloud

Adobe, today, announced the development of Photoshop Touch, a very robust photo editing app for iPad, and Creative Cloud, a cloud service for storing and syncing Adobe project files.

Photoshop Touch looks incredible. Adobe shared a quick demo of it in action (see video below) and, boy, am I impressed. One of its features is the Scribble Selection Tool which makes selecting parts of your image a breeze: just make two separate traces for the inside and outside of your border, and boom, Photoshop Touch automagically selects the border that you want.

Edit your photos with King Camera for iPhone

The photography app King Camera for iPhone received a huge update today. It is jam packed with editing tools that cater to both beginning and advanced photo editors.

I played around with King Camera for a big today, and, boy, does it have a lot of features. What I really like about it, however, is that the developers were able to include all these editing tools without making the app feel cluttered. Not to mention, the UI is just beautiful - and I'm a sucker for gorgeous UI's.

App Giveaway: FX Photo Studio HD

MacPhun LLC have updated their popular iPad photography app, FX Photo Studio HD. It now has 7 new effects and the Masking Studio that they recently introduced to the iPhone version of FX Photo Studio.

The new Masking Studio is such an awesome addition to FX Photo Studio. I thought it was great on the iPhone, but on the iPad's big screen, the Masking Studio is amazing! You can zoom in real close to make sure you don't miss any details, and while painting (or erasing) the mask, a little box pops up in the corner so you can see precisely where your finger is placed on the photo. Very cool.

Create a time lapse video of your face with Watch Me Change for iPhone

Watch Me Change is an iPhone app for creating time lapse videos of your changing face, pregnancy, weight. Just snap a photo every day and Watch Me Change will turn those photos into a time lapse video with the tap of a button.

I wish I had this app when I was pregnant! I was planning to create a time lapse video of the growth of my belly, but I wasn't consistent enough with it. If I had Watch Me Change, I would've been reminded on a daily basis and been able to quickly snap the pics with my phone.

Developers use LEGO robot to take 10,000 test photos

The Developers over at Pheromone Labs are working on a photography app for a client and one of their duties is to take ten to fifteen thousand test photos with the app. This is a time-consuming and daunting to task, so the developers came up with a creative solution: a picture-taking LEGO robot!

The idea was simple: build a set of arms driven by a motor. The arms would then simulate a user taking photos with the iPad. After discussing the idea with our resident rock star and creative genius Mathieu Savage, we located a Lego Mindstorm set belonging to our champion story teller and master of analytics Tom Boutet.

Instagram 2.0 brings live filters, live tilt-shift, and 4 new filters

Instagram has gone 2.0 and brings with it 4 new filters as well as the ability to view filters and tilt-shift effects live while using the camera.

Instagram is my favorite photography app available on the iPhone! The filters are great, but I absolutely love the social-ness (yes, I made that up) of Instagram. This update made a fantastic app even better. I look forward to what they do next.

Apply selective coloring to your photos with Color Range for iPhone and iPad

SSA Mobile has released their new photo editing app, Color Range.

Simple and easy to use, this truly wonderful app enables you to convert any image into grayscale while keeping the selected color (or colors) bright and vivid. Color Range will make you feel like an artist photographer, except that instead of messing with a brush you’ll just need to tap the chosen color, select the color range and the smart app will automatically do the rest!

  • Unique Color Range effect with 2 work modes: color picker & color slider
  • Real time preview for all effects
  • Load pictures in any resolution or use the built-in camera
  • Zooming in and out for more convenient color choice
  • Gray / Color brush for custom edit of certain image areas when needed
  • Unlimited number of undo and redo options
  • HUE effect that allows you to change originally highlighted color (or colors)
  • Saturation and brightness controls
  • Easy and super user friendly interface and help
  • Save to Photo roll or share via eMail, Facebook & Twitter

Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of selective coloring, but if I was, this app looks like a great choice. Just tapping on the color is much easier than painting it in by hand.

Color Range is a universal app for iPhone and iPad and has an introductory price of $0.99.
