Here's what's new in iOS gaming this week!

Every Thursday, I go on a quest to find all the notable new games released on the App Store over the week, but instead of taking all the gold and experience for myself, I pass my knowledge on to you! Whether you're looking for new games, games on sale, or wondering if your favorite game got a big update, I'll break down all the notable iOS gaming news for you!

New games of the week

Need something new and shiny? Every week tons of games hit the App Store, and I keep track, so you don't have to; here are the notable releases for this week.

From the creators of other amazing sci-fi point-and-click adventure titles such as Shardlight, Wadjet Eye Games brings you a new, mysterious adventure with Technobablyon!

Journey to the city of Newtown where genetic engineering is normal, a super-powered AI controls the entire city, and you have to be afraid of "Mindjackers". Latha Sesame quickly finds her world getting turned upside down as she becomes a target of a Mindjacker. Now, she must go down the rabbit hole and follow clues to find out what's really happening and hopefully save her life.

Wadjet Eye Games has a habit of making games with fantastic stories in cool sci-fi settings. Technobabylon will almost certainly not disappoint!

Portal Walk

Portal Walk is self-described as a relaxing platformer, which, to a lot of gaming fans, may sound like an oxymoron.

You'll play as Eugene, the hooded protagonist who has managed to get himself caught in between worlds. Journey across 18 unique levels and two different chapters as you try to find the portal that will take Eugene home.

You'll need to find keys, defeat enemies, jump from platform to platform, and even accumulate magical energy to keep yourself alive!

Burgle Bros

Have you ever wished you could break into a vault, steal all the money, and get away with it like they do in all your favorite heist movies? Burgle Bros gives you the ability to do just that!

Assemble your team of thieves, make a plan, and try not to get caught in this rogue-like puzzle game that changes constantly. All the decisions you make in the game will impact your entire team, so choose wisely.

Will you push your luck or play it safe? It's all up to you!

Games on sale this week

Good things come to those who wait! Every week games go on sale, and you can take advantage of significant savings. Here are the notable deals of this week.

Riptide GP2

Riptide GP2 is a fantastic jet ski racing game where players ride through all sorts of waterways: some man-made, some out in the wild and right now it's free!

The career mode puts you through progressively more challenging races, rewarding you with cash and experience points. The cash can be spent on getting new rides or upgrading the ones you have, and every time you level up, you can unlock killer new tricks to perform when launching off ramps on a course. Riptide GP2 is distinct from other racers in its bounding feeling as you skip over the waves, not to mention getting splash back in the camera view.

Guild of Dungeoneering

The critically acclaimed and unique turn-based RPG Guild of Dungeoneering is only $2.99 right now!

Become the ultimate Dungeon Master as you bribe, entice, and coax your heroes through their adventures on a quest to restore your guild to its ultimate glory!

Instead of controlling the hero in Guild of Dungeoneering, you build the dungeon around him by using cards drawn from your Guild decks. As you lay down rooms, monsters, traps and of course loot, your hero is making his own decisions on where to go and what to fight.

This wacky and backward RPG offers a ton of fun and keeps getting cool updates that introduce new features. Get it while it's on sale!

Luke's game of the week.

With Wadjet Eye Games releasing a new sci-fi point-and-click adventure title this week, I wanted to highlight one of its games from earlier this year that I absolutely loved!

Shardlight takes a post-apocalyptic premise you've seen a million times in countless works of fiction and sucks you into a well-developed world populated with genuine characters.

The plot has plenty of twists and turns that will keep you second-guessing yourself throughout the game. The rebellion against the new world order seems just as shady and sinister as the Aristocrats themselves, and it's impossible to know who to trust. It's been a long time since I was this invested in a story.

The design is solid, and although the backgrounds occasionally feel cluttered, they do a great job of setting the tone of the game. Plus, the voice acting is an excellent addition to an already impressive script, making this game just as fun to listen to as it is to read.

With a story as deep and well-thought-out as Shardlight, I have no problem dishing out the $4.99 for the game.
