Pebble Time smartwatches can now track your fitness, first-gen watches get the Timeline update
Pebble has released version 3.8 of its software which brings a number of big changes to the different lines of watches. First up is a feature addition for the Pebble Time watches, including the Pebble Time Steel and Pebble Time Round, and that's Pebble Health. Instead of needing a third-party app to track your fitness, your Pebble Time can now do it on its own, tracking both your activity and sleep.
The team at Pebble worked with researchers at Stanford University to bring seamless integration and accurate tracking. When you wake up you'll see a preview of how much you slept, and when you wrap up the day you'll see how many steps you took, and you can also check it at any point during the day. Unfortunately, Pebble Health will not be available on the original Pebble or Pebble Steel.
Not all the news is bad for owners of the original Pebble watches though, as Pebble has finally released the Timeline update for both. That's right, you can now download the Pebble Time app, pair your watch and it will update to the new interface. Goodbye 8 app limit, and hello new experience. Be sure to give it a shot if you've got an old Pebble still on your wrist or just laying around.
