Description: The final evolution of the Water Starter for the Kalos Region, Greninja is a blue, humanoid shaped frog with ninja characteristics. The lower half of its head fins and face, as well as its chest and the webbing on its hands and feet are yellow, and it has white markings on its knees, elbows, and brow. Greninja have light blue, shuriken markings on their thighs and light blue webbing between their head fins. The most notable characteristic of Greninja, however, is the "scarf" looped around its neck and trailing behind it. This "scarf" is actually Greninja's tongue, which it often uses in battle.
The only Pokémon known to be capable of Bond Phenomenon, a select few Greninja throughout history have a secondary form, known only as Ash-Greninja (so named for the Trainer of the only Greninja in modern times capable of this transformation.) As Ash-Greninja, its body is a lighter shade of blue and it gains red markings on its face and cheeks. The sides of its head fins turn black and take the shape of its Trainer's hair. It also materializes massive water shuriken on its back that serve as its weapons.
Greninja are swift and graceful, capable of sneaking into battle like ninja. They form shuriken out of water to use against their opponents and, despite being made of water, their shuriken are sharp enough to cut through steel. As Ash-Greninja, their shuriken are even stronger and the strength in their legs multiplied.

Bond Phenomenon A special sort of transformation that has only happened a few times in all of human and Pokémon history, Bond Phenomenon can occur to select Greninja with the Ability Battle Bond. These rare Greninja can transform in much the same way a Pokémon can Mega Evolve or Groundon and Kyogre can undergo Primal Reversion, except that it requires no item. Instead, the Pokémon and Trainer must share a close bond of complete trust.
