Description: An almost entirely black Ultra Beast, Necrozma is comprised of prisms and spikes in a roughly humanoid shape. The only parts of its body which aren't black are yellow lights in the shape of triangles on its palms, yellow light at the base of the prisms jutting out of the backs of its hands, and tiny, multi-colored shapes on its face that roughly resemble eyes. The shapes on its face, called brain prisms, glow when Necrozma absorbs energy.

Necrozma has multiple formes connected with the Legendary Pokémon, Solgaleo and Lunala. When Necrozma fuses with Solgaleo, it becomes Dusk Mane Necrozma. When it fuses with Lunala, it becomes Dawn Wings Necrozma. Both take the shape of the Pokémon Necrozma fused with in their Radiant Sun or Full Moon Phase, but with the addition of black prisms on various portions of their bodies. Necrozma has a fourth form, called Ultra Necrozma, that can be formed by either Dusk Mane Necrozma or Dawn Wings Necrozma after absorbing enough light. Ultra Necrozma is a massive, skeletal Dragon made of light energy. It has one red eye and one blue eye, and two pairs of wings. As Ultra Necrozma, it is the tallest Psychic type Pokémon, as well as one of the hottest Pokémon, reaching a core temp of over 10,000 degrees.

An Ultra Beast born in Ultra Space, Necrozma can open Ultra Wormholes to travel between different worlds, where it has been called the "Blinding One", the "Radiant One", and the "Pillager of Light". A long time ago, Necrozma was injured and lost the ability to give light. It is theorized that the Sparkling Stones which trainers use to make Z-Rings are actually pieces of Necrozma's body lost when it was injured. In constant pain, Necrozma steals the light from entire worlds, shrouding them in darkness as it attempts to heal its injuries. It is extremely agggressive and dangerous.

Necrozma in the core games

  • Sword Pokédex: It survives by absorbing light. After a long time spent slumbering underground, impurities accumulated within it, causing its body to darken.
  • Shield Pokédex: It needs light to survive, and it goes on a rampage seeking it out. Its laser beams will cut anything to pieces.
