Yelp buys Eat24 to make ordering takeout on your phone easier

The online reviews company Yelp has acquired the popular restaurant ordering and takeout app Eat24, which has apps for both the iPhone and iPad. Yelp paid a total of $134 million for the company, with $75 million in cash and the rest in Yelp stock. Eat24, which allows users to order food from over 30,000 restaurants in 1,500 US cities and have those meals delivered, became a transaction partner with Yelp in 2013.
In a statement, Yelp said:
Online and mobile food ordering is still in its infancy and restaurant and food searches are extremely popular on Yelp. We believe that the acquisition of Eat24 will allow us to build a better, more seamless ordering experience for consumers that we can grow through 2015 and beyond. We are excited to welcome the Eat24 team to Yelp as we work on delivering the best local search and transaction experience available to consumers and great local businesses.
