Apple Recalls Ultracompact USB Power Adapter
Adding to MobileMe issues, casing cracks, and 2.0 problems (Apple sure has a lot on their plate), it looks like the ultracompact and ultra-cute USB power adapter is being recalled.
The reason for the recall? Apple is saying that the metal prongs may break off and remain embedded in the power outlet which creates a risk of electrical shock. Apple strongly states that users should stop using these adapters until they are exchanged for the new version. The exchange program starts October 10th so Apple suggests charging via USB on your computer until then.
It hurts to say but it looks like us early adopters for the iPhone 3G got bit hard. Previous Apple products had all these little nuggets that made Apple a breath of fresh air in a stale PC-world. But with the iPhone 3G it seemed like all the adorable qualities that made Apple, Apple, got lost and got worse. Luckily it looks like Apple is tidying the ship on all of these issues.

Holy batman, more problems! I am going to still use mine it charges fast but I will be extra careful now. I assume ATT will offer the exchange? I tend to wonder why apple is having so many problems these days.

@pcuser: Apple makes pc’s (personal computers) as well, they just use a different base OS (though they can run Windows as well). Every manufacturer faces issues. Apple’s faced them before. Huge volume, cost cutting, rush to market, any number of factors. It’s what they do when issues come up that’s important. Apple’s usually good in those cases (like this one). Not always. But usually.
@Rene .. You say that Apple us usually good at this stuff… I think not from the IPhone experience …this recall is handled as it MUST be due to product liability concerns. The software issues such as MobileMe, firmware 2.0 are case examples of thumbing your nose at your customer base.
Unfortunately the 2.1 release broke many vendor apps. Apple’s partner’s left scrambing because they were given no notice of changes by Apple – and now a week past release to Apple of some of the vendor fixed we users are still waiting for Apple to realease them through the App store – once again Apple is sticking it to those that thought they were buying a 3g platform
They shower contempt through poor business practiced on their users when the users have no legal clout, but follow good practice when the could be sued fir a shocking experience.
Apple’s not perfect?! OMG, what ever will we do? I can’t stand you Apple whiner’s! Reading through any review of an Apple product is like babysitting a 3 year old, lot’s of crying with a few minutes of happiness.
@Chan….”us early adopters for the iPhone 3G got bit hard.” What are you serious? Mine, and like 99% of everyone’s iPhone works fine. Quit blowing this out of proportion. You one percenter’s are always the loudest about every little problem.
@Bricoleur…why not go join one of the many class action lawsuits against Apple with the other babies?

Apple worked for a month to fix mobileme, and issued 4 months of bonus to customers. I never had a problem with it and still got a bonus. Same with 2.x Apple worked for months to fix the problems, issued 2.0.1, 2.0.2, and — after 4 betas for developers — 2.1.
Every company will have problems. The good ones take responsibility, just like this recall.

the development of iPhone initiated, also came to the view an industry known as iPhone application development. And, for this reason, these who ended up fond of software development were actually at gain. IPhone App Development has been a hot cake in the industry, making the world highly mobile! Everyone wants to take a plunge into it to have a taste of success.
