MobileMe Gallery

Apple has just released their 5th iPhone and iPod touch app, MobileMe Gallery [Free - iTunes link] The functionality is as simple and elegant as the name suggests, pulling your MobileMe Gallery photos and movies from the cloud and showing them on your device. Sure, you could do this via Safari before, but there’s an app for everything now, right?

UPDATE: Apple has posted the following on their MobileMe News page:

The MobileMe Gallery app provides a great new way to view published photos and movies directly on your iPhone or iPod touch. You can flick left or right to move through photos, pinch to zoom, or rotate your iPhone or iPod touch for a landscape view. The MobileMe Gallery app automatically stores photos you’ve viewed so you can quickly access them again, even without a network connection. And you can easily view friends’ public galleries by selecting them from your iPhone contacts or entering their member name. See how it works in this video.

If you try it out, let us know how it works for you!

  1. Earless puppy says:

It didn’t fully work from Safari, since it’s flash based

  2. Dryland says:

This should be included in the pictures app in OS 4.0. Seems a bit redundant to have two apps to work with pictures.

  3. Works great for me, but I only have a small MobileMe gallery. Be good to see how it performs with a large gallery…

  4. Michael says:

Sounds like this is just like the ‘Gallery’ app on the NexusOne where it pulls pictures from your Picasa account. Google and Apple duking it out.

  5. Jim says:

Works great for me. I agree that the features should be available in the regular Pictures app, but I can easily live with it this way.

  6. fastlane says:

    Finally.

Now, all that’s missing are ToDos, then iPhone MobileMe will be pretty much caught up.

  7. Lollywood says:

Looks good! But where’s the Slideshow for showing people your album????? Also bring on the Todo’s. Most people would use the app, it does not need to be flashy just function well.

  8. Cobra302 says:

i like it! the only thing i wish is that it were easier to upload pics to my albums online! also, i emailed myself a link to a pic and it didnt work. said the album didnt exist.

  9. Alex says:

Looks great. That grey UI is sexy. Hope they include that in the photos app in 4.0. Now what I’d really like is an iWork.com app that I can view my stuff on. =] then there would be an app for EVERYTHING. I’m guessing they’ll take iWork.com out of beta at their announcement in a couple weeks

  10. StrikerObi says:

Great, but if I cut a video in iMovie and share it directly to MobileMe, I should be able to watch it on my iPhone! But I can’t! Why bother to support video if the companies own video formats aren’t supported! :(

  11. Earless Puppy says:

    @dryland….. Great idea

  12. Kamal says:

Want to receive what is useful for my iPhone 3G S

  13. I like it… Let’s me clear some from my iPhone memory but I can still browse them. I can even save them back to the phone from the gallery if needed.

  14. It will conjointly force Amazon to open up the Kindle API for third party development (or, a minimum of, if theyˇ¦re good).

  15. Bourne says:

I agree with lollywood… a gallery program to show your pictures with no slideshow option? It would be nice to leave the iPad / iPhone in a stand in a slideshow mode, but this is not possible; you have to manually change the picture. Otherwise, nice app.
