Apple: We’re #1 Mobile Devices Company in World, Bigger than Sony, Samsung, Nokia

Apple bigger than Nokia, Samsung, Sony

As part of their iPad keynote today, Apple took the opportunity to say that, with $15.6 billion in revenue last quarter, as $50 billion dollar company primarily focused on mobile devices (iPod, iPhone, MacBook), they were the #1 mobile device company in the world — bigger by revenue than Sony, Samsung, and Nokia‘s mobile devices businesses.

Along with the financial figures Steve Jobs touted 250,000,000 (!) iPods sold, 140,000 iPhone/iPod touch apps, 3 billion downloads, and over 75 million iPhone and iPod touches (yeah, we underestimated!).

Jobs went on to say even he didn’t believe it, and it wasn’t how they think about Apple. But he sure did say it, and that’s a shot across a lot of bows right there.

  3. Jesse says:

When you classify things that aren’t “mobile devices” as mobile devices, of course you’ll shoot to #1 in revenue in that category. The iPhone is the only thing that falls into that category. Perhaps the iPod touch as well. But music players and computers don’t fall into that category.

Stevie Jobs (should be Stevie Wonder since he is obviously going blind) says:

Oh, and ONE MORE THING, I’m the king of the World insert evil laugh here

  5. gingergirl says:

what a fag! how can Apple be so ignorant yet blind at same time – i just don’t get it

Mobile Devices includes anything your put in your pocket.

Add up all those ipods and you see where he is going.

He’s just becoming a little delusional in his old age.

HAHA.. JOKE of the day. He did not realise samsung quaterly revenue is over 30 billions, thats like more than half of what Apple’s revenue and Samsung Electronics has revenue of more than $130 billion alone, if include its other interest and consider as a Samsung Group, its revenue a year exceeds $250 billion, larger than many nations or maybe i should say is what Apple earns 5 years in total.

I dont like this, there software is by far their biggest strength

  9. Adam says:

I like how Steve Jobs has taken a “shot across the bows” of at least two companies that his company still depends on for technological support. Is it Apple or Jobs that possess the need to stick in there competitors face when they get a victory. Reminds me of the stupid #1 foam finger he wore when they beat RIM in unit sales about a year ago. Then proceeded to be beat by RIM every quarter since.

  10. It may sound wierd but it seems the liver transplant is affecting the functioning of the brain. I think its time you retired, Mr Jobs.

  11. Jaysen says:

There’s no doubting that Apple are the biggest mobile device currently, mainly due to its sleak and stylish innovative iPhone design. But seems things have been let slip recently where style has overshadowed substance, with devices from Apple coming into question about their reliability. This is like walmart saying that they are the market Leaders for mobile devices. How can he compare mp3-Players macs phones with phones alone.

That guy is just endlessly stupid, it seems…

  13. Iphone Libya says:

apple deserves this position .. They r the best.
