Microsoft's two Kins and the cloud
In this post are two Kins. We will link to them now. Microsoft's new two Kins. "Social phones" sure to wow.
Project Pink (no not that one) but with a name that's all new. Two phones Microsoft's calling Kin One and Kin Two.
These Kins won't have App Stores, they're for tweens and for fun. All Facebook and Twitter for tweens on the run.
They will have media and browsers (yes it's IE). They'll even hook to Macs. (Drive-mode USB).
So add to Xbox and Zune, Windows and Azune, two Kins for the cloud (and branding? No matter!)
Neither TiPb nor I have much more to say. Windows Phone 7, after all, was just yesterday.
But at least Google and Microsoft still aren't making phones. Who's next not to make one we wonder... Nintendo? Amazon?

Heh very nicely done!
Rene, how much did you have to refer to The Cat in a Hat in order to get the rhyme down?
Awesome. Love it. Nicely done, Rene!
Mentat
hahahaha those are soooo gaaaaay!
If only Microsft were half as clever as our own dear Rene.
'Kin Hell! 'Kin Useless! 'Kin Off............................
Slow day today, huh??
Cute
Those look like something I'd give my 4 year old to play with.
Wow. Microsoft's bread and butter is the poor IT pro who is locked into Microsoft's old-school enterprise technology. But now they're selling "My First Phone" to the kiddies. Just in time to fill the niche that Palm will be vacating...
If Amazon made a phone it would just be a mobile buying machine. Every application would be centered around a store and they'd have ads all over the place.
Hehe. Loved it, Rene!
Your not dr. Suse and this was a pointless post about some retarded looking phones... But it made me laugh so good job lol. I am far more interested in the actual 7 series phone coming out this fall/winter. After the os 4 announcement the iPhone won me back. But I was seriously concidering jumping ship to winmo7
@Rene
You cheered stripped down focus just two posts ago,
Saying usability counts more than features and bloat.
Now Redmond comes down, and to an extreme
Strips away cruft, just as you dream,
Supplying just a few features, and well, one supposes,
Yet sight unseen these kin you mock and dispose of
For focusing on tweens? Is that a bad deed?
To target one's users and supply ONLY their need?
I recall the same barbs being thrown at Steve's boys,
As Macs and iPhones were derided as toys.
Why do you mock and reflexively battle
Just 'cause this idea comes from Seattle?
You'll find the same principles at One Infinite Loop.
But there you cheer them, while on them here you just poop.
To see the kin's splash presentation,
Big flaws I too see in their implementation.
But not deserving such scorn! Not deserving such malice!
As if such ideas can only come from Apple's glass palace.
Mock what you see, what you can test,
When you can compare which visions are best.
But dismissing competitors so lightly lacks grace,
And at worst breeds complacency that lets foes steal your place.
Well, I saw some videos about them and, actually, liked both the concept and the implementation! I think this will have greater impact than any other iPhone-killer, just because it is a focused product, with a focused target.
Remember my words...
long story short...these things a re kin to sh *t
LOL! THERES A SMILEY FACE KEY ON THE KEYBOARD... XD
I thoroughly HATE what Microsoft did to Danger, and to the Sidekick. The Sidekick was my very first smart phone, and I loved it. The ONLY reason I got rid of it was because I wanted to try Android. I hated my G1. That phone had no love at all. I didn't want to go back to the Sidekick 3G because I heard it was buggy so I got a curve 8900. I went through 4 of them in a month, not because I had inflicted damage, but because they were pieces of $hit. I saw this press conference and one thing came to mind "Wow, they actually REMOVED features from the Sidekick." What I mean by "removed" is this, the previous Sidekick had MORE features then whatever this KIN crap is.
The following are a list of features that the Sidekick has, that the KIN doesn't:
*Bing maps with directions via GPS. *YouTube support, and uploading. *APPS! *Multitasking. *Aim/Yahoo/Msn Live Messenger
How is this phone a Sidekick replacement? What's worse is that it's not even coming to T-Mobile. I can't stand Microsoft. It makes me grab my iPhone, my MacBook Pro, and my iPod and hug them like they are my children. When I see a Micro$hit product, I sneer with disgust because they ruin everything. I also loved how they said they interviewed people to see how they use their phone. They must have interviewed idiots judging by the crappy hardware and software that came out of it. By the way, how the hell do you tell how much battery and signal you have left? Oh and who uses myspace anymore?? really? Myspace? Why not put friendster on it too while your at it. sigh I guess all great things must come to an end. I will miss you, Sidekick.
millions people use myspace it's the 18th ranked site on the net.. Even though most people think it's cooler to use facebook .. That's a big demographic.. People are missing the point of this phone . Not everyone has an iphone droid or pre.. I am sitting on the train and see at least 10 old ass flip phones so the kin would be a good upgrade for "dumb phone " users.. Another case I offered to buy my niece a phone , I thought for sure shed say iphone.. Nope she wanted some cheap ass 2 version of a texting phone .. Point everyone has different taste and these phones have a larger maket then smartphones
Well let's see how far the the kin phone's go, befor we lynch them. They just might be good phone's.
And if they had a Apple logo on them Rene would be falling all over himself telling everyone how great they are, how they are intuitive to new users, how it's a phone he'd want to give his niece/nephew/son/daughter/ and how magical the whole experience would be.
