Daily Tip: How to turn on AirPlay Mirroring
Wondering how to turn use AirPlay Mirroring on your new iPhone 4S or iPad 2? Air Play Mirroring is one of the great features of iOS 5 and enables you to mirror your screen on your second generation Apple TV. Here's how to get it started.
First off we need to make sure AirPlay is enabled on the Apple TV
- Go into Settings
- AirPlay
- Turn on AirPlay
Now we have done that, grab your iPhone 4S or iPad 2
- Make sure it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Apple TV
- Double Click the Home Button
- Swipe twice from left to right in the fast app switching task bar
- Click on the AirPlay icon which looks like a rectangle with an arrow pointing up
- Select your Apple TV and turn the toggle switch on for Mirroring
Thats it, you should now see your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 screen on your Apple TV.
Enjoy this awesome new feature!

i really want to use this but wont give up my JB as its my only way to stream media from my pc to my livingroom tv
I don't have an option for "enable Airplay" under the general settings. Now what?
I have appletv 2 and iPad 2 and there is no choice of airplay in settings/general.
Make sure you've updated the apple tv this past wednesday... works great with my iPad2
I was playing with Airplay this weekend. It seems since the update my Apple TV isn't showing the album art while i'm listening to music. from my iPhone 4S nothing was displayed to the TV, though I could hear. from my iPad, it would show the album art for the first track, then the black box with a music note on it for every other track. tried resetting ATV...no luck.
setting>general...............airplay?????? LOL
I can wait to get an apple tv 3, I had my iPhone 4s connected to the tv by the hdmi adapter, it's great.
I am totally gutted and memorised that this isn't available for the iPhone 4 and iPad original :(
