Hotmail to gain ActiveSync support for iPhone and iPad. Finally.
CNET is reporting that Microsoft's Hotmail will finally gain support for... Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync protocol. Sure, even Google's had that for a while now, but better embarrassingly late than embarrassingly never, right?
So Hotmail users, very soon you'll be able to type in your username and password as an Exchange account and enjoy full push support and client/server synchronization. On iOS 4, you'll even be able to set it up alongside your work Exchange and Gmail ActiveSync accounts, if you have them, and really push things to the limit. (Sorry, couldn't resist).
Will you be using it?

About time!
Sweet! It's about time. I had to buy mbox for $10 to get my hotmail to work well on the iPhone. mbox works great but this is the way it should always have been.
Wow I read this just in time. I was just thinking I should get rid of my hotmail account because I hate trying to sync email. Can't wait for this
Nice!
Hotmail is still a thing? People still use it?
About time. I was just about to POP3 my Hotmail account into a new Gmail account so that I could get IMAP "support".
@tape indeed..do people still use hotmail
Hotmail for me is like Windows on public access computers - no choice. I go to one of the nation's largest universities and they use Hotmail for school email. It has a .edu extension. I knew Hotmail didn't have IMAP but POP on my iPhone is better than the web interface. This is awesome. Now I'll use it to sync between Mail and Mail on iPhone. It can do that, right?!?
Better late than never. M$ gearing up for WinPho7?
people still us that garbage
Follow up, I was checking out the new stuff they are adding. In the vast majority of screen shots for mobile devices they are showing an iPhone. lulz
Too late. I switched from hotmail to gmail last month and theres no turning back.
I apreciare it. Since its not easy changing an account thetas so old
@ luis. couldn't agree with you more!
So would this mean I can also import my folders and contacts?
If only Google Sync worked, but as usual with google it's there but not usable.
Maybe this means contact syncing wont ruin your contacts on your phone? maybe they can get it right since gmail and yahoo cant..

Doesn't the iPhone already supports Hotmail in the Mail app ?
I used to check my hotmail account through the mail app in my 1st gen. iPod touch (running IPhone OS 3.1 - before they called it IOS. )
, but I removed the account from my iPod (for security concerns)
I read and write hotmail all the time However I have to delete mail from web even if I deleted from Iphone. Hope this new activesync is better.
So it there a target date for when this change will be in place?
Is this active yet? If so, how do i enable it? I'm tired of using mbox app.
@Brian - it works now

I don't accept this blog post. However, I had searched in Yahoo and I have found out that you're correct and I seemed to be thinking in the wrong way. Keep on writing high quality material similar to this.
At last, somebody that doesn't underestimate the web crowd. We're not only prospective customers; we want effective content to stay engaged, not just searching for "offers".
I just like the helpful info you provide on your articles. I'll bookmark your weblog and check once more right here frequently. I am reasonably sure I will learn many new stuff right right here! Good luck for the following!
Thank you, I have just been searching for info about this subject for ages and yours is the greatest I have came upon till now. But, what about the conclusion? Are you certain about the supply?|What i do not realize is in fact how you're not really a lot more well-liked than you may be right now. You are so intelligent.
