How to access the chapter menu on the Apple TV

When watching movies on the Apple TV, you may come across a time where you want to jump back or forward several minutes and scenes. While you can always scrub by rewinding and fast forwarding, it's much easier to use the chapter menu to jump right to where you need to be. The best part is you can even see preview frames so you know exactly where to skip to.

How to access the chapter menu for faster skipping and rewinding on the Apple TV

  1. While watching a movie or show, hold down on the select button on your Apple TV remote.
  2. The chapter menu should pop up and show thumbnail previews of each chapter.
  3. Use the directional pad on your Apple TV remote to highlight the chapter you'd like to jump to and press select.

That's all there is to it. Your Apple TV should automatically jump to the chapter you selected and start playback form there. Keep in mind that some movies and TV shows may not have chapters. While it's rare nowadays, it still happens occasionally. If you ever come across a time where holding down select does nothing, that's most likely the reason.

Should also show how to do this from the remote app on iOS, as that's what I use for my AppleTV, so I can type on it easier.
