Digging through the the Mac OS X Lion beta, Consomac found strings for "Castle", which looks to be the codename or the next generation MobileMe.

Apple updates MobileMe control panel for Windows, improves Outlook reliability issues

Apple has released an update to its MobileMe control panel specifically for Windows machines. The update (Version 1.6.6) is aimed at Outlook users who have been experiencing problems syncing their calendars with the MobileMe web app calendar.

The new update fixes issues and improves reliability for the new MobileMe Calendar in Outlook.

If you have been experiencing any problems with MobileMe and Outlook on your Windows PC recently, make sure you download the update!

Will Apple’s cloud storage and streaming services be known as iCloud?

According to a report by GigaOM, Apple could be shelling out around $4.5 million to buy the domain name iCloud.com, potentially for the long rumored music locker/streaming service. The icloud domain was recently owned by another company that used the name for an online storage service. It has just re-branded its service to CloudMe.

When you visit icloud.com it currently redirects to the new domain cloudme.com but shows a banner informing customers of its re-brand from icloud to cloudme!

Reuters is reporting that Apple has now completed work on its rumored online music storage and streaming service. Reuters also claim that Google is working on a similar service but its plans have stalled; Apple will beat it to the launch. The source of this new information is cited as “several people familiar with both companies’ plans”.

Amazon Cloud Drive and Cloud Player music services announced

Amazon surprised the tech world last night by announcing Cloud Drive and Cloud Player services for streaming music to various platforms. Amazon has stolen a march on Apple after we heard the other day that Apple was supposedly planning to launch a similar service very soon (given their purchase of streaming service Lala happened more than a year ago.) Well, Amazon has gotten here first.

MobileMe no longer available from Apple.com, revamp coming?

TiPb readers jumping on new MacBook Pros today have let us know that Apple is no longer offering discounted MobileMe boxes as an option along with a new Mac purchase. A quick check shows you can't buy it from store.apple.com at all anymore.

MacRumors confirms that Apple has notified resellers that they won't be producing the boxes for retail anymore either.

Could this be the first sign a revamp is really on its way? Could we -- dare I say it -- see a new MobileMe at next Wednesday's iPad 2 event?
