TiPb asks: What's your favorite tech item in your home?
If you could only keep one piece of technology would that be? Your iPad, your iPhone or perhaps something else? We have been asking each other that question a lot lately on our podcasts and TiPb TV. So I wanted to know what was everyone else's most favored piece of technology. For me it is my iPhone. I keep it close by me at all times and it works as my personal mini computer, my phone and my entertainment device. What tech would be your sole survivor?

Personally, it's my iPhone. It is becoming, for better or for worse, an indispensable part of my daily existence.
Since I'm on verizon and have a crappy BB Curve 8330 I would have to say my iPad is def my must have technology.
iPhone 4 hands down. Screw a crackberry, I can't put that thing down (yeah i know, that's what she said...)
Love my iPad, but my BB 9650 is essential to day to day life.
I think for most it's going to be their phone. It's the one that that stays by your side at all times. Your "life-line" to the rest of the world. I love all my toys; gaming consoles, internet ready TV's, iPhone, iPad, ATV and especially my new iMac, but the one that's always there for me is my phone.

27 inch i5 iMac... surprisingly... iPhone 4 next, then iPad
My Samsung HDTV. I'd hate to give up my iPhone 4 and my Macbook Pro, but I cannot do without TV. And no, watching Hulu and Netflix on a 15" screen does not equal watching TV on a 36" screen.
I'd rather watch something on a 15" from a few feet than a 36" from 10'. 36" is tiny in the age of 60" HDTVs.

I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad. My favorite is the iPhone 4 by far. I barely touch my iPad anymore, except to play games.

Up until yesterday it was my iPhone, but as luck would have it, my wife somehow dropped her phone and it landed directly in a glass of water sitting on the floor of our living room. So being the kind, patient and understanding husband that I am, I switched her SIM into mine and gave it to her while we wait to see if hers dries out in a bag of rice. If not, I'm screwed, lol =)
So my current favorite piece of technology would be my 13" MBP!

So many choices, so little time. I'll have to go with my 8-core Mac Pro - as a self-employed designer/developer, my life would probably fall apart without it. Then I'd have to go with my iPhone, followed by my MBP, Nikon D7000, dual 24" Dells and finally my iPad. Geez, no wonder I'm broke!
My iPod Touch. I don't actually have an iPhone (or any cellphone), but the Touch goes with me everywhere and is my primary e-mail and social networking device.
I has to be a PC.. You cant even use the other things you are talking about efficiantly with out one.. (I suppose you you can susbutute a mac for the pc)
iPhone 3GS for now, iPhone 5 come June/July.
I would have to go with iPhone4, sorry iPad, you did come a close second, sorry iMac, you came a very close third, sorry...oh never mind. :-(
My stereo system is always first to me, music is life. PC second, iPhone third, iPad forth, TV fifth, iPod sixth, MBP seventh....

Definitely my iPad which share the data of my iPhone. My iPad is always with me everywhere I go. Reading books, listening musics, surfing the net and playing games.
Definitely the iPhone 4. My most used and favorite piece of tech I've ever owned. It might get one upped though by the iPad 2 once it comes out since I don't own the 1st gen.

Definitely my iPhone 4. Mini computer, news, weather, books, music, photos, camera, video. Pretty much does it all for me.
Sorry guys my PS3 is king for entertainment. 2nd would be my vaio(no MB yet)its a workhorse. But if i had to chose just one thing to keep it would probably be my one of my ipod touches 4g.Its ultra-portable and no you havent needed a computer for iOS since 3.0.
my macbook pro comes first followed by ipad and ps3. my iphone 3gs comes last.

I had, the 1st iPhone, 2G, 3GS, NOW I got iPhone 4, and also a i got the ipod 30 gb, never used, ipod shffle 4gb never used.

Honestly it isn't my iPhone 4 or my yet to be acquired iPad 2 (No iPad yet, but I got the cash to get the iPad 2 for Christmas) it would be my 17" Macbook Pro. With it I can make Voip calls via Google Voice integrated Gmail, I can surf the web rom home, or any of the many Starbucks you might find me in, get email etc... Compose any documents I might need to do and oh yeah as of Jan 6 I can play Angry Birds on it too.
I guess my iPhone 4, then my BlackBerry 9700 (I need instant communication, plus notification system when I'm out and about), followed by my iPad!
hahahaha to all the people that say they barely touch their IPad's anymore, because of their IPhone 4. What an embarrassing waste of money.

My iPhone 4. This thing is literally my connection to the world - family, friends, business and everything in between!
I'd say iPad if it could do everything I can do on my laptop easily, but it can't. There r missing web components here and there, like widening a text field, and uploading pictures to a website in the browser. That makes me have to look for work wronged which I stupid.
Also, mobile safari should let me install olivine like flash and silverlight if I choose.
So I can't choos a single device because not a single device I have combines total functionality of a Pc with the portability of a mobile device.
My desktop computer. I can do anything and everything on that baby.
And as u can see, autocorrect sucks on iOS :(
Since I can only chose one..it would definitely be my iPhone 4...if I could chose two then it would be my iphone 4 and my ipad. I don't have internet at home so the Ipad gets heavy heavy use and it is on me or near me at all times.lol...
My iPhone and iPad are just about tied. But if it came right down to it, I'd say I can't live without my iPhone. I tried it once. I'd rather have no phone at all then anything else
I sold my beloved iPad to have the iphone 4... so yes, the iphone is the way to go..

my self built i7 965 dual 58790 pc,its become my whole entertainment suit from my music production suite right through to my hifi and tv !
My MBP, it does everything the iPhone, iPad and other gadgets I own do plus it has power to let me edit video, photoshop while watching a movie.
ipad for me. I can get another phone that meets my needs, but I cant easily replace the role my ipad has taken.
I love my iPad, but my Palm Pre is my go to keeper for sure.

iPhone 4 if I had to have only one thing. The internet is almost required in today's world, and I can do every single thing I need to do using the phone, and most of the things I want to do.
Iphone 4. I love my computer and PS3, but my Iphone can and does goes everywhere with me.

I have one. It even works on glass. It is truly awesome.
This maybe a little strange, but for me it'd be my wristwatch. I know I know "but dude, there's a clock on your phone." and this is true, but, I'm attached to my various watches. I couldn't live without one.
iPhone 4 second, Home brewing kit third.
If I was restricted to having only one device it would have to be my i-Phone 4. Although my MacBook, iMac and i-Pad all play a roll and are very valuable/useful to me the versatility of the i-Phone as a portable, go anywhere, jack of all trades devices would be the best choice for me. No matter what I am doing the device is small enough as not to be intrusive or cumbersome and although there may be times when I would like more power/capability or a larger display there would be times when I just would not be able to carry along a larger device. It’s ability to do just about anything you need on the fly and its compact size make it a no brainer choice.
I could p1ss outside and collect rain in a bucket LOL. I'm keeping my iPhone 4. I'll run round to the mates to charge it hahahaha

It will probably be the iPad 2 when it comes out as long as it has at least double the ram (I'd prefer at least a gig) and front n rear facing cameras.
I own an iMac, iPad, and iPhone. I love them all. But I have to day that I probably can live without the iMac and iPad. But I'm sure I will be miserable without the iPhone 4.

My iPhone 4 and MBP are the greatest things I've ever purchased.
HTC Evo and iPad come very close. But the one thing I really can't live without is the MacBook Pro 13".
It would have to be my desktop PC. I don't have a laptop, and there are a few necessary tasks that I can't readily do on an iPhone.
I love my Ipad but I will not live without my Iphone 3GS

iPhone 3Gs, followed closely by my Mac Mini and then my MBP.
My car. It has a controlled environment (A/C & heat), can provide electricity & mechanical power for any other tech I want to create & hook up to it. With it I can travel hundreds, even thousands, of miles. It can even provide fresh water using the condensation from the A/C.
My favorite piece of technology is my credit card. Without, I wouldn't be able to buy the rest of the stuff I want.
Easy! iPhone 4.. If I was on a deserted island with Cell coverage and a Power source.. I would definitely hope my iPhone 4 was with me.. cause with it I can communicate and entertain myself till im rescued or not.. I could probably find my way home with google maps.
my windows media center PC. it's my DVR, my TV tuners, my photo and home video library, my repository of movies... and my itunes library. :) I'd love to go iMac, but I too much $ and it's not a very good TV.

My indoor plumbing, followed by my electric light bulbs, air conditioner and refrigerator. And my car. Then credit cards. Eventually, we get down to the stuff you guys care most about, like the tv, iPhone, and Internet modem and wireless router. But I wouldn't want to live without plumbing or air conditioning. I'm 21st century soft that way.
It used to be my Lenovo X61 tablet because I could portably listen to Internet music through its Verizon cell modem, and, oh yeah, do Photoshop work on the go, etc.
Now I'd choose my iPhone 4 as my one device. Whilst I cannot do Photoshop work on my RAW photos, yet, it does replace my watch, a calendar, a camera, a flash light, a CD player, a radio (talk radio and FM music), a separate phone, a magnifying glass, a mirror, an encyclopedia, a dictionary, a gaming station, a note pad, an address book, a GPS, a data base, arguably a research assistant, and a host of other things.
I accidentally left it the other day after a 100 mile trip and had to do without it for one day. How miserable! I couldn't even call up a friend for lunch. I felt like I had lost half my brain. Yeah, pathetic...
My Macbook Air, with my iPhone 4 in a very, very close second place, iPad not as much a necessity...

My iPhone 4, definitely. I like my 32GB 3G iPad as well, but I just find I don't carry it as much as as first, and when I do use it, it is 95% reading (ebooks, websites, etc), and rarely I type on it.

I did not get my iPad until Black Friday but I have to say that I do find myself using my iPad more than my iPhone & MacBook but I still love my iPhone 4 more.

Here in Germany it's f** snowing so I'll go with my Radiator (you could argue that a fireplace will do but the timesaving by not going into the woods is hardly matched by my beloved iPhone4)
iPad 2 when it is out, with amplitube, ampkit, and a Gretsch Nashville plugged in. Picking keeps me normal.
Evo first. Then iPad. HP laptop comes third, even though that is the device I use the most.

iPhone 4...I like my iPad, too, but it is a distant second! If there were two categories, I'd have to include my 27" iMac as one of my all-time favorite machines as well.
It's really amazing how the Apple marketing machine has sucked me into the iOS/OSX world, so to speak. Less than 8 months ago, I was a die-hard ThinkPad and Windows fan and it took until the 3GS and the release of iOS 3.1 until the features were present that made me switch from my then-beloved BlackBerry Bold (9000). Apple is also GREAT to do make money with. They pay FAST, there is never any BS, everything "just works" on that front as well. :D

I own a lot of toys. Minus a Mac computer (I bought my fiancé one though). I own all game systems, iPad etc. My favorite tech is hands down my iPhone 4. I have it with me 100% of the time. It does what I need it to do. I just love it.
My dong. It is marvelous. Never crashes, not fragmented and always has the latest updates. Uptime is off the charts as well.

I agree, it is always with me. I have an Ipad which is a phenomenal piece of technology, sitting at number 2 in this poll! But like you said, your Iphone is always with you!! 3GS user.
My iPad, without any doubt whatsoever. I use it constantly for a variety of things and it liberates me from my desk as well as the (laptop) charging cord!
iphone 4, only because I can't stop triping out over the retina screen. I have the EVO that I also use daily but Android is straight a$$ compared to iphone quality. My $.02
It's a tough call between iPhone and iPad but I'd have to go with my iPhone 4. There's times when carrying the iPad just isn't convenient. I rely far too heavily on my iPhone for business and personal use to give it up. The iPad, I could give up if I had to, luckily I don't have to!
If I could only pick one piece of tech though, it would be neither and would almost certainly have to be the 27" iMac as I can't edit and do a lot of the things I need to do on an iPhone.
I like my iPhones, but no way in heeeelllllll I'd give up my MacBook Pro for my anything. Prying it from my cold dead hands!!!!

iPhone 3GS. Sure, it's not the latest, but it's fast, it gets the job done, and I didn't see the need to upgrade...the screen is fine. My girlfriend's 3G is painfully slow with iOS 4.2.1 so I'm set on this until I'm out of contract. Probably hold off for the 5. I don't know anyone else with a iPhone 4 so I wouldn't use Facetime anyway.
Probably a tie between my iPhone 4 and my iPod Classic. The Classic doesn't do anything except play my music, and that's all I want it to do. :)
My iPad is by far the neatest bit of kit I have had in a long time, wipes the floor with my iPhone and Android devices, it's just so right in almost every way.
