WWDC 2011 meta live blog

Apple's WWDC 2011 Keynote is here, and it's bringing iOS 5, (iCloud)(http://www.imore.com/tag/icloud), and Mac OS X Lion loaded for bear. We'll kick things off about 12:45pm, so sit back, grab a beverage, and watch along with us for all the coverage, color, and commentary you've come to expect from TiPb!

Note: Apple hasn't announced a live stream, and unless and until they do, we're assuming there isn't one. We'll update if and when we hear otherwise.

Here are the go times!

iCloud to be more about replacing iTunes than actually streaming music? [rumor]

So is anyone else waiting for more than iCloud and iOS5? After revealing hardware so many times in the past to just show up and reveal what we already know (heck, even NPR did a story about what iCloud will be) I think this could be a major letdown if Jobs can't pull something out as his one more thing.

Oh boy it's the live blog of the non-iPhone iPhone event! The "apple couldn't get their stuff together this year" event

Yes, Kaye this person is correct, thats last time I the site I used to work that out. Should have just used my phone :) WOo, I will see it.

Lol everyone just assumes they have no new iPhone to announce maybe it was just kept supa secret because of last years little hiccup I might be wrong but rumors are rumors and they have been doin this for years like clockwork so I doubt they haven't got something to throw out

Thanks to everyone who replied.... We got there in the end. Ichorus at least you won't be stuck in traffic in the end.
On a side note if we get a good new notification system that would be enough to keep my content for a little while, iCloud etc is just a brucie bonus (which hopefully will be more then simply streaming)

Software is much more exciting to me than new hardware. Give us seamless syncing of app data across iOS devices please. And give us new notification system, some sort of file access, a new lockscreen that is useful, and how about being able to change my email sound?!

Greg, a 3 day conference about an os update? Synching app data is great if you have 2 iOS devices but for a lot of users who don't, that isn't something they really care about. A new notification system/file system would be nice and a different lock screen but again, those aren't things to get really excited about. As for custom email/text sounds I agree that those are needed, but if that is the "one more thing" I'm going to be soundly dissapointed in this year's event.
As for MacBook Air/Airport/Time Capsule - as someone who isn't in the market for these anyway, I appreciate the value of this for others but for me this wouldn't really give me much.
Maybe this is just my own issue and I need to just stay away from the Internet until later today when I come back to see what Jobs has given us.

There is no way they would announce iPhone 5 as the one last thing. the "one last thing" has usually been somehting that takes about 5 minutes to present and finish the whole thing. I dont think Apple/Jobs would give iPhone 5 a few short minutes . iPhone 5 is gonna be a huge step forward for Apple and they will have a separate confrence for it in the fall.
iPhone 4S seems more likely, as it will just be a faster iPhone4 with minor tweaks and 64GB .

To be honest, I'm more excited about this than an iPhone event. iOS 5 is more important to me. My iPhone 4 while it may not be the best hardware (specs-wise) on the market) is still an excellent device. User experience (the OS) trumps specs.

@art vandelay iPhone 5 could be the one last thing. It's gonna be the exact same phone with an A5 ios5 pre installed

I REALLY HOPE THERE IS NO IPHONE 5! I'd prefer an iPhone 4GS. The iPhone 4 is still the best phone out 1 year later and hardware means nothing if the software sucks so they need to focus 90% on the OS 10% on the iPhones hardware. I'm super close to jail breaking my phone if apple doesn't step it up

I hope you're wrong. Lots of people couldn't upgrade to i4 a year ago, and are hoping for an update so we don't have to get year-old hardware.

I'm very new to iPhone (3 weeks), so I'm sure this is a rookie question. If they announce the new os today, what timeframe are we looking at for it to be available for download to our phones?

The merge is not referred to the anternil structure and functionalities of the 2 OSes, but to the user experience they offer to the user. As simple examples, consider the new scrolling in Lion or the Misson Control and the new gestures. So, I am referring only to the UI and the way you interact. The three platforms are now more similar than before.

Uhhh... the iPhone has an international clock. It's not that complicated to figure out what time it starts.

this will be a huge update for a few users.
I would like to see statistics, I'm sure there have to be many ipod 2nd generation and below yet.
at least I hope they don't forget us.

Ok, to be honest, I think there will be a new iPhone today. Let my imagination go wild here for a bit. I think the new iPhone is going to look exactly like the iPhone 4, with obviously more power under the hood. I think Steve Jobs is going to make his presentation using this new iPhone 5, and at the end of the keynote, he’s going to say: “one more thing, you’ve watched me do this whole presentation on our new iPhone 5″…
You think I’m crazy? I think it wouldn’t be surprising. And I believe that following last year’s iPhone 4 debacle with Gizmodo, Apple went out of its way to make sure the iPhone 5 was a complete secret, which would be why we didn’t hear the usual reports about Apple ordering parts and what not.
Now let me take this tinfoil hat off my head.
What do you think?

An Ad in the middle of the stream.... you got to be kidding me. Note to self don't use tipb for the next Apple announcement.

What's going on with the live blogging. It just goes to a white page on my iPhone. And their are no new posts what's going on at the event!!! :(

L'ho ptocramo, l'ho ptocramo! Consigliato a tutti. Grazie per la lettura: djmario

Any of you fellas before the stage, will the new non-intrusive, non-interruptive messaging system (iMess ;-) ) also handle SMS? I would surprised if it does not, but it would be nice with a confirmation that we will be able to reply from within apps even to sms:es from non-iOS users.
Or, rather, do it without the already existing excellent jailbreak solutions.

Enough of this iCloud crap....let's get to "One More Thing..." and what's hiding underneath those black tarps!!

iCloud is a fail for me. Not being able to upload my own music is a dealbreaker. I ripped my entire collection. i'm not paying $24.99 for what i already paid for when i bought the cds.

Excellent blog here! Additionally your website quite a bit up very fast! What host are you the use of? Can I am getting your affiliate link on your host? I wish my web site loaded up as quickly as yours lol
