Ford will finally join the list of car companies that will support Apple's CarPlay system in May. That's when sales will begin on the 2017 Ford Escape, which will be the first Ford car with its Sync 3 technology that supports both Apple's car tech and Google's rival Android Auto system
Production of the 2017 Ford Escape has begun at the company's Louisville Assembly Plant. In addition to Sync 3, the car will also be the first Ford vehicle to support its Sync Connect technology. The LTE-based service will allow owners of the car to do things like start their car with their smartphone, along with remote lock and unlock, vehicle location and health check.
Ford has already stated that all of its 2017 cars in North America will support Sync 3, and thus Android Auto and CarPlay. Owners of Ford's 2016 cars will be able to get Sync 3 upgrades later in 2016.
