Apple adds Foursquare as data partner for Maps business listings

Apple has signed a new partner to provide data for its Maps application. Fourquare is now listed as one of Apple's partners for business listing on the company's Maps acknowledgements page{.nofollow}, alongside other services like Booking.com and GreatSchools.
Apple has already partnered with a number of companies in order to improve its local business data, including Foursquare competitor Yelp. The company is currently reported to be shoring up its own, in-house data in order to become less reliant on partners in the future. In the meantime, however, strategic partnerships like these are necessary for Apple attempts to stay competitive in the short run.
