Apple Board Member Jerome B. York, 1938-2010

Apple director Jerome B. York passed away today at the age of 71. President and CEO of Harwinton Capital, former CFO of IBM and Chrysler, and former vice chairman of Tracinda, he joined Apple's board when Steve Jobs came back to the company. Apple's CEO had the following to say:

"Jerry joined Apple's Board in 1997 when most doubted the company's future. He has been a pillar of financial and business expertise and insight on our Board for over a dozen years. It's been a privilege to know and work with Jerry, and I'm going to miss him a lot."

Apple is also paying respects via the Apple.com home page (pictured above).

All of our hearts and condolences go out to the York family.
