Apple calls GT Advanced bankruptcy filing 'surprising'

Apple says that it's surprised at the bankruptcy filing of sapphire supplier GT Advanced Technologies. GT supplies the sapphire both for the iPhone's camera as well as the Touch ID sensor. In their first comments on the matter, Apple says they are working with government officials on their next steps, according to the Wall Street Journal:
In its first comments since GT's Chapter 11 filing Monday, Apple said, "We are focused on preserving jobs in Arizona following GT's surprising decision and we will continue to work with state and local officials as we consider our next steps."
