Apple has finally launched its News app in the UK

Apple has launched the company's standalone news aggregator app for iOS in the UK. The company previously unveiled the Apple News app alongside iOS 9, but those who have updated the latest release of iOS in the UK have had to wait for the company to eventually roll out the app. Now it's readily available for download.

According to The Guardian, Apple News will provide the UK with content from 14 newspapers and magazines, including The Telegraph, Sun, Sky News, and the BBC. Apple has released the app to prevent iPhone owners from having to switch between multiple apps to remain up-to-date with what's happening in the world.

  • Meh. Both apple news and that Siri suggestion don't do it for me. One doesn't have a widget. The other has a paywall. I feel like they're ads to get you to subscribe to publications. News360 FTW for me. It's a good news aggregator and has the best widget I've seen for a news app. Sent from the iMore App
  • Really liking the News app. Previously I had around 4 different apps to provide me with news of stuff I was interested in. The News app has replaced all of these. Only confusing I have with the News app is what the hell is the Notification setting for in Settings/Notifications as I don't see what it does. I would expect that this would send me notifications of new stories etc, but it doesn't do this. Can anyone shed light on how it works/what is it for? Sent from the iMore App
  • Do any feeds support comments? Especially iMore? Part of reading the news for me is reading people's opinions. I think the news app is great but without comments I'll stick to web pages or sites own apps. Sent from the iMore App
  • Am I correct in assuming that the Apple news app is similar to Flipboard? Looking forward to trying it one day in Canada. Sent from the iMore App
  • News has potential but it's so slow to update with the latest articles. The latest on there from iMore was 16 hours ago. Sent from the iMore App

  • Anybody getting a "search isn't available right now" message when using search? I'm not in the UK but have changed the region to UK. It worked fine in the beta. Sent from the iMore App
  • As previously mentioned, it's in Australia too: however Feedly is better, and opens the site in Safari (so one can comment, reader view, etc ...)
