Apple said to be expanding trade-in program to include non-Apple smartphones

Apple's current trade-in and recycling program lets customers trade in their old Apple devices in exchange for an Apple gift card. The program would be expanded to allow customers with phones running Android and other competing systems to exchange those devices as well, according to 9to5Mac:

According to sources, Apple will soon introduce a new recycling and trade-in program that will accept non-Apple smartphones, notably including Android devices, in exchange for gift cards to be used toward the purchase of new iPhones.

The new program will reportedly begin in the next few weeks, with training starting for Apple Retail employees later this week. In the meantime, if you're planning to switch from an Android device to an iPhone, be sure to check out our guide.
