Apple set on repurposing GT Advanced facility; committed to creating jobs

Apple has apparently addressed officials in Mesa, Arizona, reassuring them of its commitment to bring jobs to the area even in the wake of GT Advanced's recent bankruptcy, Bloomberg reported today. The Phoenix suburb was the site of the sapphire glass supplier's operations and employed over 700 workers as a result of Apple's investment in the area.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Mesa City Manager Christopher Brady said that Apple has "indicated their commitment to us: They want to repurpose that building and use it again."
It is unclear what Apple intends to do with the building, but Mesa Mayor John Giles seems confident that the ultimate result will be a long term presence by Apple in the area, telling Bloomberg:
Apple could've invested in a facility literally anywhere in the world. There's a reason they came here, and none of those reasons have changed.
As this saga continues to unfold, it will definitely be interesting to see what Apple has in store for this facility in terms of both production purposes and job creation.
