Comic: The Bezos Awakens

Ed: Welcome to this week's edition of The Pixel Project: a weekly comic from Diesel Sweeties' Rich Stevens on Apple, technology, and everything in-between. Today: The Bezos Awakens

darth bezos! only you would be so bold. amazon chooses not to sell devices that dont play prime video,

and this has nothing to do with refusing to pay apple 30% on in-app purchases? impressive! tim cook has taught you well.

but you are not an app store yet.

  • If anyone believes HBO is paying Apple 30% I have a bridge to sell you.
  • Little different. Thats streaming, nothing is bought. The 30% is in app purchases, which amazon prime aside from streaming would have a lot of.
Altho amazon got around that with the kindle app by not letting you buy books from the app, have to buy them from the website instead Sent from the iMore App
  • What are you talking about. Amazon doesn't give Apple anything for things bought through prime on the Amazon app. Sent from the iMore App
  • Those arent in app purchases, you download nothing back to that app when you buy something, its just a way to log into their site Sent from the iMore App
  • Anyone else see the irony in the comic about slamming Amazon for a lack of choice? LOL Only on imore.
  • I can't watch Amazon Prime Streaming (or whatever it's called) on a Kindle Paperwhite, but they still sell that.
    This is just childish.
You can't even sign up / subscribe for Netflix or Hulu, etc within the aTV apps, you have to go to their website in a browser on a different device, so how would it be any different for Amazon? I doubt it has anything to do with a 30% cut since all other Amazon apps on iOS bypass this anyhow.
The only reason I see is that Amazon offers rentals and sales of content, which is direct competition to iTunes Store & Google Play, whereas Netflix and Hulu are subscription services. Same for Vudu. Which is likely why neither company wants Amazon Streaming on said devices. Sent from the iMore App
  • you also can't watch Amazon Prime streaming on a Snickers bar, but they sell those. Dear lord, you're obtuse.
  • The ACTUAL point here is... This segment usually sucks. Sent from the iMore App
  • I cringe when I read these... So bad they hurt. BTW Amazon has just removed a toaster oven that fails to play prime content from its site as well.
