This is the US store I suppose? I know a lot of those titles were previously only available in the US.
-
Yes, although a few international apps seem to be in there. Might still be shaking out.
-
There are more available but for the time being you have to search for some not shown in the featured list. The thinking is more apps need to be approved before they build out browse by category. Sent from the iMore App
-
Those are all the ones search turns up at launch.
-
Thank you!! This is THE BEST source for iOS news. I sure do appreciate the effort! Sent from the iMore App

Thank you!

Gotta agree with you there! Sent from the iMore App

Is there a way to download these apps ahead of time? I won't get the Apple TV right away (waiting for more apps.)
-
No, alas. On-Apple TV downloads only. (Unless you have promo codes, then you can use those in iTunes or on iOS first.)
-
I didn't see an Amazon Video app listed. Looks like the new Apple TV is not going to the sold on Amazon.
-
Amazon won't make it. Nothing Apple can do about that. I'd suggest letting them know you want it!
-
At which time Amazon will ignore you. Amazon stiffs Apple (and Google Android) users because they prefer that you buy their competing product. Then again ... iTunes is only available on Mac OS X and iOS so ... The thing that I hate about Amazon is that (unlike Apple) they block people who WANT to put their services on there. Google would LOVE to put Google Play Movies and Music on Fire TV. (Those apps are available in the App store.). Then again ... Google withholds their products and services from their main rival Microsoft. So I guess there are no good guys here. Just varying degrees of bad guys. But I say that Amazon is the biggest bad guy.
-
Apple isn't exactly putting iTunes on non Apple devices either
-
They aren't opposed to it, actually. Apple Music will be (so, in theory, your iCloud Music Library). Any Disney owned video is on all supported devices. Know who actually controls that interaction? The content owners. Because it is a different service.
-
I emailed Bezos. I am sure it will go on deaf ears.
-
I have a google music app on my iphone. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google-play-music/id691797987?mt=8&at=10... Works fine. As for streaming boxes i don't know.
-
Seems crazy when they already have an iOS app that can airplay. Hopefully they will reverse course (like the BBC) and realize they are missing out on a great opportunity. Then we may have some hope of seeing Amazon Video on Demand as a native app which would be a great addition alongside other apps for sure.
-
Does their app AirPlay? I seem to remember it not working. Still the only service I have to switch over to a console for.
-
The last time I tried it, around the time Amazon announcing they were pulling the Apple TV, it worked fine.
-
it ain't coming to apple tv. Amazon and Apple are in the midst of a pissing contest. If you need Amazon tv you gotta use like a Roku 4, Firetv, Xbox. I know those have it.
-
Or continue to use the iPhone/iPad app and AirPlay
-
It reminds me of the OUYA or Roku interfaces ... a slick look, a few things I know and like, and pages and pages and pages of dross, much like the original AppleTV, only more so. I couldn't get through this little video, so I should take that as a sign that this machine is not for me at this time. I saw several games I would like, though. Galaxy on Fire 3 would be my "system seller" though to be honest, I'd rather play it on my phone. Crossy Road would be fun with friends. Geometry Wars and Futuridium are classics to me, but I already have them on both PS4 and iOS. I wish Apple every success with this, but I think it's going to be a bit of a struggle to gain the attention and money of people who already have a streaming box. Surely now that we're on AppleTV 4, Roku 4, and Playstation 4, the market must be pretty saturated by now, right? I'd also really like to see a single place where I could enter my subscription credentials, rather than the per-app setup. My current AppleTV times me out of authentication all the time and this looks like it would do the same thing. I was SO happy to see some other people talk about this as a problem for this box/service. It's probably the fault of the channels (ahem Disney) or the cable companies, but it's a shame Apple hasn't solved that problem yet and shown the others how to make it work. I guess all the jokes about sharing HBO Go passwords aren't really jokes.
-
I think you might be judging the new Apple TV a little prematurely. It's only been out for a few days and already has 100x more content and a video like this that takes a while to go through all the apps so far. I got my ATV on the first day and, to be honest, was a little underwhelmed because I thought it was more of the same too. Siri search is cool and it's much faster on every front (just think of it as upgrading your iPhone from a 4s to a 6 in terms of speed) but what else is there? My opinion changed completely after the first wave of apps became available. I've already spent more hours (mostly TWIT.tv) this week watching the new ATV than many months on my old ATV. The subscription credentials do carry over for certain apps but not for others. It worked for my HBO Go but not my Netflix so hopefully they work on that more because it makes for a poor first impression. But ATV has 2 things no other hardware or software players have...iTunes catalog and iOS developers. These 2 things will drive many Roku, Amazon, Chromecast customers to ATV.
-
I'm sure I'll get one eventually. Right now there's not enough here for me, but I'm sure that will change. Especially if they drop support for the old one like they did with the original appleTV. ;-) Did you know that Crossy Road has been on the Amazon Fire Stick for almost a year? I did not -- but I played it this past weekend, and it's not bad, especially considering the price of that nothing little hardware. My point is only that Apple isn't doing anything "magical" here, at least not yet. Hopefully it will improve.

What, no Twitch.tv app?? Sent from the iMore App
-
Awesome, thanks! I am going through now and getting a list ready! EDIT: Ok, I know this is day one, but they will really need to do something about this. At minimum, there are 3 fireplace apps. And the list is not alphabetical. Understanding this is just a video (connected to a Mac and screen recording?) and better than anything I have found online so far, so appreciate it.
-
Any plans to do an imore app?
-
We're looking into it.
-
You know what would be great? If some Apple-covering parties could make one app together... Your stuff, Macbreak Weekly, some good podcasts (Dalrymple, Gruber, Snell etc.), maybe some tutorial screen casts... All in one place. That would be convenient, would guarantee enough content, and (ok, I am kidding now) they all have the same people anyhow :-)
-
Absolutely! Top notch! Great idea! Make it so! So, what do we need to do to get this to actually become a reality?
-
I'm picking mine up tonight, bought it online for pickup at my local Apple store. Was wondering if app purchases were universal? Meaning if I buy a game on my iPad if there is an Apple TV version can I download it again on the Apple tv? edit: ok cool deal http://www.imore.com/apps-are-universal-across-new-apple-tv-iphone-and-ipad
-
Hey Rene what's with the music did you create it using iPhone ring tones just curious.?
-
Feels like they're lacking a killer launch app. It's more of the same from the old ATV coupled with a few nice to haves like Plex. Nothing that makes me think my PlayStation should be worried about gathering dust just yet.
-
Cool, for the first time in many years I can finally see one of my applications on iMore!
-
No PLEX. I thought they would be there at launch?
-
No iTunes Movie Trailers in the UK?
-
Don't forget apps that start with numbers!! For instance my app - 60 second quiz isn't listed :)
-
Awesome thanks for this. We launched our little dashboard app http://moment.thesimplelab.co then found out there was no categorisation. Posts like this are awesome as it shows us what type apps people can expect.
-
Wow a lot of titles to start out for a TV application. More and more tempting to pick up an Apple TV. Spotify support would be great too in the future. Sent from the iMore App
-
I love my Apple TV, especially using Siri for search. I am disappoimted, however, with the games available. They re just blown up versions of ipad apps. No real sophistication here. Maybe devs are still developing new games. Different from the cartoony games of the ipad.
-
So you can fit every single Apple TV app on a single Apple TV?
-
I think you should post some Canadian Apple news, what with you being a Canadian site and all. Most of these apps I assume won't work in Canada
-
Also, Rennie, you will have to change imore's closing logo video sequence to include Apple TV. Will they have an app store that will be filtered between games vs tv use??
