iCloud services back online after extended service disruption

Update: And it's back. According to Apple, the outage was resolved just before 4:00 p.m. EDT.

Original story: A number of iCloud services are down for some users. The disruption, which render services unavailable for some, has been taking place since about 11:30 a.m. EDT. Affected services include iCloud Backup, Drive, Documents in the Cloud, iMessage, Mail Drop, iWork for iCloud beta, and Photos.

Apple has acknowledged the outage on their System Status page (opens in new tab). While service might not be out for everyone, Apple notes that users may experience slower than normal response from these services.

We'll let you know when everything is back to normal.

  • Apple Music and Siri are down for me. Oh... and the iTunes iOS App.
  • Apple is pure shit when it comes to the cloud. They charge too much, they lack good security, the software sucks and the integrity is crap.
  • Since it's apparently so easy, why don't you fix it?
  • Charge more that others, but deeper integration. And security? What issues? They can't fix stupid. Sent from the iMore App
  • Cant update my software because verification hangs, can't get directions in maps but can load the map and see my position being tracked, and can't send attachments via iMessage but text through iMessage works just fine.
  • 100 billion dollars Apple. Use it on something other than shareholders.
  • They do, dude. I doubt you're a developer and realize that it takes TIME to look for causes and then to implement a solution! Sent from the iMore App
  • Siri, dictation and app updates are down for me.
  • It's a real world stress test on the heels of launching Apple Music. But that's cloud technology for ya. No matter who you are. Apple, Google, Microsoft There will always be outages. Just hope they learn from the outrages. Sent from the iMore App
  • Same here with Apple Music not working. I can't access the Radio tab at all, it just hangs.
  • Find My Friends hasn't worked all day. Put it down to 8.4 upgrade. Maybe not…
  • Just tried to update a few apps and they just hang also. Went to iTunes store app and the music section comes up for every tab (movies, tv shows, etc.).
  • I have been unable to update any apps. I rebooted, etc and that did nothing. I then logged out of the App Store and now I can not get back in ...I receive a "Cannot connect to ITunes Store" message.
  • App store is still down. Can't download or update.
  • Still can't access Siri, dictation or app store updates. Sent from the iMore App
  • I still can't connect to icloud nor iMessage Sent from the iMore App
