Starting on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 12:00 a.m. to Thursday, April 8, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. local time, the current Team GO Rocket Timed Research reward is the Super Rocket Radar, an item that can be used to track down Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni. And you'll want to do so because Giovanni has a Shadow Zapdos in his grasp.

Zapdos is one of the Legendary birds from the Kanto region and the second Legendary Pokémon in the National Pokédex. It's also the mascot of Team Instinct. Zapdos is also one of the only Pokémon with a regional variant and a Shadow form.

What is a Timed Research Reward in Pokémon Go anyway?

During Team GO Rocket Timed Research, players will be tasked with completing various objectives like catching a certain type of Pokemon, defeating Team GO Rocket grunts, and purifying Shadow Pokémon. The reward for complete these events are often Pokéballs and Pokémon captured by Team Rocket.

During a Team GO Rocket Timed Research event, expect many Poison- and Dark-type Pokémon to appear more frequently in the wild, in Strange Eggs, and in Raids. Prepare to see lots of Zubats, Qwilfish, Sneasals, and many others that fit within the type. There's also a chance that defeating Team Go Rocket Grunts will give you a Mysterious Component. Collect six to craft a Rocket Radar, which will reveal nearby Leader Hideouts. There's a chance that a grunt might drop a complete Rocket Radar.
