During its Q1 2016 earnings call, Apple revealed that it now has an install base of 1 billion active devices. The massive number, which Apple says was derived from monitoring the number of devices that interacted with its services in the last 90 days, includes active devices across all categories, including iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch.
The number is especially impressive because it counts only devices that are currently in-use and active around the world. It was only around a year ago that Apple reported that it had reached 1 billion iOS devices sold. Speaking on the company's earnings call, Apple CFO Luca Maestri said that this large active install base represents lends great value to the company's services business given that each device has out-of-the-box access to the App Store or iTunes.
This news, of course, follows the release of Apple's Q1 2016 earnings report, in which the company reported that it saw a record $18.4 billion in profits on $75.9 billion in revenue.
