Things for iPhone and iPad updated with Notification Center widget, more

Cultured Code's Things has been updated on both iPhone and iPad, adding a widget to the Notification Center. You can use the widget both the view your current tasks and start new ones.

The Things widget will show you the tasks that currently sit in the Today section of the app. You can mark tasks as complete from the widget, and Things will update next time you open the app. Create a new item by tapping the "+ New To-Do" button at the top of the widget.

Things 2.6 also contains improvements for the URL scheme, as well as the almost obligatory stability and bug fixes. The update is available for both the iPhone and the iPad apps on the App Store now.

  • I was waiting to see who would implement widgets on OS X AND iOS first, CulturedCode with Things or The Omni Group with OmniFocus. Looks like CulturedCode wins. I also like the fact that Things does a much better job of adhering to the Human Interface Guidelines. Omnifocus – At least on the iPhone – reminds me of an Android App. For all but the most advanced GTD practitioners, I'd recommend Things in a heartbeat. Hope you snagged it while it was App of the week in November. Things does miss some functionality that OmniFocus has, but aside from being able to set a time for defer and deadline dates, you won't miss any of them. Besides, CC's sync has worked better in my opinion, the recurring dates work better, and it has Handoff support.
  • Great! I was looking forward to this! Sent from the iMore App
