thank you. i was also trying to figure out how to sync the videos i took from ipod nano to pc. I tried to download sofwares to do it. i didn't know it was that simple. thank alot!

but another question...how to convert quicktime video to windows media player?

To save videos using a PC, do the following;

Hook your iPod nano and sync with iTunes.
Go to the 'Summary' tab and click 'Enable disc mode'.
Go to My Computer > iPod will appear as a flash drive.
Double click on it.
Videos are saved in the 'DCIM' folder.
Drag videos > Desktop and VOILA!

There's nothing weird about it not being able to take pictures. Video looks better at much lower resolutions than still pictures do, so they can get away with using a much smaller/cheaper CCD sensor.

One thing that existing mp3 players with FM radios can do is to RECORD OFF THE AIR. This is useful when one is at work and wants to 'tape' a show. there were even old fashioned Walkmans that could do this in the age of tape.

Apparently the Apple iNANO is able to do this ONLY FOR FIFTEEN minutes and has masterfully turned this with the art of "It's not a bug it's a feature".

With my $40 sanclip right now I can listen to Fresh Air and record it at the same time.

Can the new nano do this? I think not. This new unit is just too idiosyncratic for me. Welcome to the NANO. Enjoy it on its terms, not yours. If you want to make a video, go at it, want to take a picture? Take a hike!

I have been waiting for a Nano with an FM and a microphone. I didn't use to care about radio until I bought (in frustration) a Sansa Fuze for the recording capability. I found that I really enjoyed the radio (great for a news/talk/npr junkie) and I used the recorder for learning songs and ad hoc dictation when walking or driving.

I was wondering like robomatic above, if the thing will record the FM, even in a lo-fi mode. I assume Apple crippled it to funnel users to iTunes, but I don't use recording FM for that. For me, it's like an audio TIVO. I can time shift programs to catch them later when I have time. A lot of NPR stuff happens when I'm not near a radio or can't listen (like, ahem, work).

Being an iPhone 3G, and third gen iPod nano owner, I'm pretty set when it comes to music and the sort. When my iPhone begins to run dry, I make the move to my nano and I'm set for the day. You might figure from what I just said that I have no intention of picking up a new nano, but if you think that, then you are quite mistaken.

What really sells me on this fifth gen nano is the feature many are perplexed/complaining about most: the cameria. I own a Nikon D5000 that records stunning video, but that isn't practical to carry around with me everywhere I go. Jailbreaking my phone for Cycorder is an option, which I have explored and went ahead with before, but I just wasn't a fan of it.

I love photography. I also have a thing for videos as well, but I have nothing worth using to capture them. I was seriously considering the Flip Mino, since it is a widely popular video camera, but with this new nano I think I've found my match. Granted the cameras position on the nano is odd, simply turning it to get the full picture is just fine. It fits my needs perfectly, but that doesn't say much for the next guy.

I had no plans at all to buy an iPod no matter what was announced today, but I jumped all over an orange nano after hearing about the integrated pedometer, FM radio, and video support. I need something to motivate me to keep jogging and the pedometer and fitness utilities should help quite a bit. I also have a small music collection and enjoy my local radio stations so think FM radio is a nice addition.

I find the video quality on my iPhone 3GS to be pretty dang good and the nano records at that same exact quality so it should be great for Facebook and YouTube uploads. I think this is the real killer device that was announced today and can't wait to get mine soon.

I find it ridiculous that the nano gets to record video while my 3g is stuck using jailbreak alternatives (which is not really a bad thing). But there is no good reason (hardware included) that it shouldn't be able to record video.

It doesn't shoot still pictures because the camera is only VGA. Video is a lot more forgiving of resolution than still images are. No mystery there.

Odd that only shoots video...not still pictures too or maybe I missed that. The ability to pause the radio sounds nice though. I just wonder how gyms are going to deal with even more video cameras, mine already trues to "ban" phones throughout most of the facility.

I think its perfect for the nano. Has all the great features. I still see NO need whatsoever for the 3GS (which I do have) to have an FM radio. Ever hear of Pandora, Slacker, Last FM, iHeart(which does FM radio)?

The nano will be the ultimate running/gym/light traveling iPod and serves that purpose very well.

I have an iPhone 3G but have been using one of the fat model nanos for a couple of years as a running / gym music player. The pedometer alone may convince me to buy this. Don't have much use for the camera.

I think it's complete BS that this got an FM radio, but my 3GS still does not. I am getting tired of Apple reserving some product attributes for certain devices.

The top of the line 3GS should have everything (and more) that lower models have. What other electronic devices do that?

I'm not too hip on the placement of the camera lens. I understand that they probably weren't able to put the lens near the top of the device. I'll bet a lot of people will be inadvertently taking pictures of their palm.
