Yet More Mythical iTablet Rumors: Coming March for $1000

Marketwatch is citing "checks" and saying that Apple's unannounced, still mythical iTablet will begin production in February, "implying" a launch in March or April. The iTablet and also-unnannounced companion services delivered via iTunes are said to feature:
- 10.1 inch multi-touch LCD (no OLED)
- Traditional Apple 30/70 split for print publishers (which is better than Amazon's traditional 50/50)
- To be sold at an average price of $1,000 at a 22% margin
Price sounds high to us. Apple has had tablet concepts in the vault since before the iPhone but they've never made it past Steve Jobs. He's going to need to see a market for them and a price that delivers that market. Apple is premium, but they've already got the iPod touch at under $500 and the MacBook at over $1000 (both of which provide great balances of portability and functionality). If a place exists for an iTablet, it would seem to be between those two points.

Being first is not as important as making you second... :p
The price is too high and more importantly, the margins are too low. If Apple isn't getting 35% margins it looks like a mistake. Plus, I have a hard time believing that it's $1,000 and it has an LCD, not an OLED. That comes off like an error. Finally, there's going to need to be a whole lot more than magazines and newspapers to make this compelling at that price point.
It'll be interesting to see how the one from Apple would stack up against a $550 EeePC T91mt multitouch tablet. Twice the price, but twice as good?
No desktop applications = no market.
I'll give them 699 for it... or I'll just stick to my iPhone
OLED = key
then I'd pay 1000
Again, for those who missed it, the REAL iTablet should run all iPhone apps AND come with a special tabletized (new term) version of the iLife suite. Flash-RAM of 64-128 GB with expected expansion options, 3G or 4G wireless for data from whomever, Bluetooth for iPhone, iTouch and music, printing, optional BT mouse & keyboadr, wireless sync etc. Touch screen as on iPhone/iTouch. LED (or OLED), not LCD. If Apple China can't do this for under $1K, they should,t even bother bringing it to market. Watch for an announcement by April.
Just bought a Mythic for myself and are going to be receiving one particular for my wife quickly! It has just the suitable mix of features. just brief of the total smartphone. I'm preserving an eye for the Captivate for any possible long term cell phone...costs are way as well high when released. I've been in great tech for 20+ many years and basically hack every thing I own to make it greater laptops, GPS, vehicle navigation methods, etc. and yes cell phones too. Within the couple of days I've owned the telephone I have by now set up Opera Mini, Bolt 2.1, freecaddie, Google Maps w/GPS functionality, deleted all locked ineffective apps right after backing them up and totally modified the menu system to my exact wants devoid of all useless apps.
