CBS bringing video to iPad via HTML5
CBS has confirmed that they plan to bring all CBS.com video content to iPad via HTML5 format by the fall television season.
ABC has had an iPad app available to stream video content since the device launched, but CBS has chosen to deliver their content via CBS.com instead. In regards to this choice, Interactive executive Anthony Soohoo said
When we were looking at the iPad as a separate device, it had a lot more similarities to a PC in our mind…So for us, we wanted to make sure that video was available through HTML5 on the iPad first.
Although the PC and iPad versions of their websites will have identical content, CBS does plan to take advantage of multitouch on the iPad, particularly with advertising.
There are some interesting elements to the iPad, such as the idea of a user navigating the site with their fingers versus doing a mouse click, so that might lend itself to doing some interesting advertising programs, and that’s something that we’re learning about and looking into right now.
So who's counting down the days until CBS' fall television season?

You k ow HTML 5 will also mean that it. Will work on all PC's with HTML5 browsers, android 2.2, Windows Phone 7, WebOS, iPhoneOS, BlackberryOS, and probably other. I just wish HTML5 was a little more robust and a little less buggy. Lets see if thkngs iron our in the ne t couple of months.
Heck yeah! I can't wait.....
Steve must work for Adobe!!!
I'm not sure why they are waiting until the Fall. It's not as if they need to have new shows to create HTML5 content. By the Fall, there will be another couple of million iPads in the hands of viewers who have caught up on shows all Summer via the ABC app. Due to vacation travel and other leisure activity, the Summer might be a peak viewing time for iPad content.
Alright! The Big Bang Theory on my iPad!!
Is this wifi issue gonna be fixed on my ipad. Can't watch a Netflix movie straight thru yet.
