You’ll find the German iPad pricing here: http://www.schimanke.com/index.php?/archives/1455-Apple-gibt-iPad-Preise-fuer-Deutschland-bekannt-U.html
By the way, in Germany prices are 15 EUR more expensive then in most other European countries due to a new copyright levy for computers.
I’m still really mad about the Canadian pricing.
Are these European versions going to be factory unlocked? Thanks.
Worth noting that when you buy something in the States, you have to add a tax (depends on what state you’re in), and a stupid recycling fee. Prices displayed in Europe include all taxes. So an iPad that sells for $499 in California actually cost you $555. $555 is 435 Euros so a French dude who pays 499 Euros for an iPad pays a little extra.
Thanks, Germany added!
Canadian price doesn’t surprise me but with our dollar being almost par I was hoping it would be a little cheaper. At today’s exchange rate $499.99USD for the 16GB would be 521.44CAD. Some may say the cost of shipping and duty would need to be accounted for.
@Sebastien – Actually I bought my iPad 3G in Seattle and paid sticker price. Not a cent more. I’m from Alberta Canada, and so by filling out a tax exemption form I didn’t have to pay state tax in Washington. And there was no recycling fee. All I paid was our GST when I crossed the border.
£429 is alot
Yeah £429 is equivalent to $635. $135 extra come on Apple.
@f1nbar Ok lets get the maths right first its $499 US at today’s exchange rate 1US$ = £0.675310643 so 499 * 0.675310643 = £337.00. Now add on VAT £337 * 1.175 = £396.00
This makes the difference as £429 – £396.00 = £33.00 more expensive, big deal
Sebastien — in which state is there a “recycling fee”? Never heard of it. Also, there is are a couple of states without a sales tax — Oregon for certain, and possibly Vermont? I try to buy my electronics when I’m in Oregon, when possible.
And here it is, Japan iPad 3G will be SIM Locked!!

Damn!
Wow, why in the hell would anyone buy an iPad in Canada. Better off going to the USA if you live near the border. Our CAN dollar is on par with the USA dollar and yet the price is more, wtf.

Hey I am about to head back to Canada from Australia and I need to buy 2 Ipads! Does anyone have any advice on where and when I should buy them? Canada is cheaper but there is tax and if I buy at a store here in Aus I can claim back the Taxes at the Airport… Maybe I can get a deal for buying two?
It’s no fun that the ipad is higher priced in Germany and I’m hoping that the price will come down, especially in time for the newer versions (whenever they are released!) But I had to buy one anyway and so I did. I have to say that the iPad is a fantastic gadget and can be used pretty much for everything, as a pc, for music, videos, pictures and even as a phone! There is a free app called Freephoo which basically converts the ipad into a phone by making calls over your wifi or 3g network. It’s available at http://itunes.apple.com/se/app/freephoo/id411865638?mt=8&ls=1. I also liKe GarageBand a lot – it’s like having your own recording studio! You can download GarageBand from http://itunes.apple.com/de/app/garageband/id408709785?mt=8
i like it !!!
