Orange, O2, Vodafone UK iPad 3G data plans
Orange was first out the gate with iPad 3G data plans in the UK, and now O2 and Vodafone are finally showing their hands as well. The plans certainly look more flexible than AT&T's US plans, though the lack of real unlimited data is apparent. No ability to add the iPad to an existing account like Rogers in Canada either.
Orange UK iPad data plans
- 5p (per MB)
- £2 200MB/day
- £7.50 1GB/7 days
- £15 3G/month
- £25 10GB/month
The last two plans also include access to Orange's Wi-Fi hotspots.
O2 iPad data plans
- £2 500MB/day
- £10 1GB/30 days
- £15 3GB/30 days
All plans are recurring and include access to O2's Wi-Fi hotspots.
Vodafone iPad data plans
- £10.00 250MB per month
- £25.00 5GB per month
[Apple Online Store UK, O2, thanks for the details, Chris!]
If you're picking up an iPad Wi-Fi + 3G in the UK, let us know which carrier and what plan you're picking up with it. And what you think of the rates.

I think O2's data plans are the best, especially for the occasional daily user such as myself.
I really cant see what Vodafone were thinking with their prices, does anyone have any thoughts on why they have priced them so high compared to others?
If you are going to order the iPad in the UK, take a look at my blog post for some things you may not have thought of before ordering: http://bit.ly/d5pMIx
Yet again Vodafone prices are just way over expensive and illogical.
These are not necessarily better than what AT&T offers in the States after you consider Euros vs US Dollars.
These look interesting not only for Ipad but also for Iphones when abroad. I visit the UK once in a while and would be more than happy to pay £7.5 for a week of surfing with 1GB included, peanuts compared to roaming tariffs.
Don't mind taking an old Nokia phone and swap SIMs -Iphone for data, old Nokia for voice- but can it be done ? Can I walk into a telco shop and buy just that 20p micro-SIM and 1GB or do they want me to sign up for a long term contract ?
If they do, I suspect Ebay will see some offers of "pre-loaded micro-SIM cards"...
In Germany it's O2 and Vodafone right now and vodafone Costa Taufe As much. Idiots
*Vodafone costs twice As much
I lived in the UK for a year. Had some pay as you go TopUp sims for my wife and I. O2 was awsome then, appear to be awsome still. I have two sims that I can reactivate. Next time I go over I know how I'll be powering my iPhone and I pad:) very nice. I don't know what the he'll Vodofone was thinking!
I'd love to see AT&T offer a daily plan for U.S. users -- for the occasional times when I might need cell service.
Don't forget o2's data compression. The web will look horrible on the ipad. Imagine all those blocky pictures to wow your friends with!
Hi All, yeah you could totally wait for the iPad to be released in the UK, or you could enter our competition (open globally), just follow and tweet, it's that simple. http://www.airport-int.com/ipadpromo/, tell your friends!
