Following last Friday's first international launch, Apple today announced that they've sold 2 million iPads in under 2 months.

Apple began shipping iPad in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK this past weekend. iPad will be available in nine more countries in July and additional countries later this year.

“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”

Jobs has often quoted the saying, "great artists ship". One of Apple's strengths is actually shipping product. The other is selling it.

    I'll be adding to that number in the very near future.

    Even tho I won't be getting one personally (I'll hold out for a more features slate/tablet device) you can't deny that the iPad has openedthe door to tablets again, brought them mainstream and kept it simple. Even my dad Is thinking off getting one and is quote upfront about it being a gadget. Irrespective of whether you love or hate it it's opened up the previously geek only sector. That's good for everyone.

    I feel rev 2 will be coming in the fall along with OS 4 I will be waiting until then for mine. I really hope they add an sd card slot and/or USB port and a front facing camera (no need for rear camera IMO)

    iPad 2 will probably be March 2011. Apple likes their yearly cycles.

    Don't hold your breath for iPad 2, and especially for the 2 feature that you want. If the iPhone don't have them the iPad will not have them.

    @Tsb3

    I agree. While sellin' that many iPads is coo'. I really just want this new iPhone to come out.

    I wish that I had a need for an iPad. It would be a coo' device to own. But between my iPhone and MacBook, not use for one in my life.

  12. tino72 says:

    i could care less about buying a ipad, doesnt do anything for me whatso ever..

  13. Garry says:

    @tiny72 Then why bother reading an article about one? I have no interest in a Droid and ironically enough, I do not visit/read any site/article related to it.

  14. Jorge says:

    Have you seen 'wired' or readed a Marvel comic on the iPad? It's The End for traditional publishing.

    Have you played Scrabble on the iPad with 4 mates with an iPhone each as 'letters stand'? It's The End for traditional board games.

    An the list goes on an on, just because I thought I would be mainly browsing the web with it. But make no mistake. It is indeed cooler than 'the real thing', and this is just the begining.

    Try any of these ones, that were not featured on the Apple's keynote, and you'll be amazed why it's so engaging.

    And, of course, thanks to content providers that have 'entered the game'.... It's a game changer, a revolution, and there's nothing we can do to stop it, really.

  15. Derek says:

    The iPad is still pointless.

  16. frog says:

    I love how they call it magic. It just drives Android/PC fanbois crazy.

  17. Sam says:

    Frog, those pc fanbois you are referring to, fo you specifically mean the. Whole 94% that choose pc over mac?

  18. Loz says:

    @Jorge

    Spot on. We are about to witness a revolution. I look forward to DJ mixing software and a music making package. Then I will be straight to the shops. This thing is gonna be bigger than computers as we know them.

  19. Ron says:

    2 mill sounds like a lot, but it fails hard compared to even the lightest of market estimates. I'm happy to see that its still made a bit of an impact.
