Yahoo mail for iPad

Yahoo! has released an HTML5 iPad friendly version of its mobile webmail.

  • Faster and more reliable: If you’re offline, Yahoo! Mail uses local caching capabilities to help you access and search your messages even without an internet connection.
  • Smart: You can find and organize your messages using Full Search, personal folders and Smart Folders with messages from your most important contacts and optimized views for photos and file attachments.
  • Feature Rich: View rich photo attachments in their full form, or as previews directly in the inbox view. Also includes a dual-pane view to make reading and organizing a breeze.

You don't have to do anything special to begin using the new Yahoo! mail webmail experience on your iPad. Just visit http://mail.yahoo.com in Safari and you should see the change. Yahoo! promises to bring more features, improve performance, and Yahoo! Mail for iPad the "best it can possibly be."

If you use Yahoo! mail on your iPad, let us know what you think!

  1. Baustin says:

    Can't wait to use this...on iPad 2...

  2. DavidVlogs says:

Wow, I'm surprised Google didn't beat them to this! If I had an iPad I might blow the dust off of my old Yahoo account to try it out.

  3. iTrevor says:

That's great but why when you've got your iDevice's built in Mail.

  4. Jaire B. says:

I really like it, although, it's not as intuitive as the native (Apple) app. But, the new site is nearly fully-featured, unlike the native app.

  5. Brian says:

I love the new yahoo HTML5 site!

  6. ScreenToucher says:

Looks good on iPhone as well but the only benefit I see is folder and spam management wich the native app lacks.

  7. IPPlanMan says:

Wake me up when Yahoo Mail supports Desktop IMAP to Apple Mail or Outlook....

Yahoo Mail is so backwards that they make you pay 20 dollars a year for POP Mail access... That's right: POP Mail access, through Yahoo Mail Plus...

So all those "Push" messages that go to your iPhone/iPad or this stupid webmail feature won't sync up with your Desktop Client if you make any edits/changes, etc... isn't that convenient?

In comparison: AOL offers Desktop IMAP support. GMail offers Desktop IMAP support... and they both do it for free.

    Get a clue Yahoo...

  8. Jeremy says:

Ya! What IPPlanMan said! That's why I stopped using my yahoo account when I got my Gmail account during it's beta, years ago!

Yahoo mail on ipad is BROKEN!!! In safari I can no longer send from it, since they added the spam stopper type in the code thing, it just comes up with error. Does not work in ipad mail function either, there is no way to get at the spam fiolder. Ugh. Also i can see no way to even report these problems to yahoo, no support address or anything, just stupid help files that are no help at all.

  12. Hi, thanks for the fantastic post! I found it very interesting!

  13. I would suggest using an it support provider, it worked out much cheaper for us in the long run than trying to do it ourselves

  14. jay says:

all the fluff, wow its wonderful. actually the forced application sucks, I cannot use mail to its full power in iPad, and there are many other incompatible problems. give me the ability to use the regular interface from my iPad.... grrrrr

  15. Babjee2002_mail says:

    Can not find the Contacts

  16. Missmistaya says:

I am having the same problem. I can see the tabs that should let me see contacts, calendar.... These show up on my PC. Is yahoo having problems or am I :) ?

  17. Missmistaya says:

Bad typing I can not see the tabs!

  18. Grant says:

Absolutely HATE the iPad version of Yahoo mail. Give me my full site version! There is no option to switch to full site anymore.
