An iPad with a smaller display, and an iPhone with a larger display may sound like familiar rumors by now, but Korean Times says an "industry insider" approached them with some new details about them, specifically that LG had been contracted to work on them.

"Next year's iPhone to feature a 4-inch display by LG Display, half an inch larger than the 3.5-inch display and retina display resolution will remain unchanged because LCD is currently being regarded as the right solution to offer value with better cost-cuts"

So are you getting tired of all these different sized iPad and iPhone rumors now, or just tired of Apple not releasing them already?

    Yes, very tired of it.

These rumors are particularly insidious as media sensationalize them to ridiculousness.

This rumor seems stupid to me. Apple prototypes a lot. Component suppliers are basically blind, touching an elephant's leg, thinking its a telephone pole.

At least it isn't incoherent like the horrible Business Insider article.

Normally I bite, but not having it this time. Also, Rene: if either one of these things comes true you can't use this article as a "I told you so" reference. Everyone knows that if you throw enough poop, eventually some sticks.

Yes, thank you. The whole "TiPb has been saying all along..." thing gets really annoying. Definitely not an 'I told you so' article.

This isn't TIPB's opinion. Try to understand the difference between offering your opinion (editorial) and what TIPB hears from any of its sources to just reporting a rumor from around the net.

Looking at the sources, it's Korean Times and ComputerWorld.

But i would agree that saying something months in advance and changing your tune in the days leading up to an announcement (stating that your source did a 180 and citing some BS from said source) doesn't make you any less wrong "all along."

Perhaps you should get out of the blog business if all you have are rumors to post. I hope you don't consider yourself a journalist because a real journalist wouldn't write articles based on rumors.....of course this excludes present day media.

Someone should tell them to correct it and replace the words Apple for Samsung....

I could go for a 4" screen if the phone wasn't any larger.

I would love an iPad mini to go with its big brother.

Apple lost me because of this. Tablets and smartphone aren't real computers. They are extremely similar to each other. They can't do real work. This is why people want different form-factors. I wanted one data bill. I had unlimited data with ATT. I paid the ETF for my tablet, the tablet and bought a Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket. Its big enough for me use as a e-reader, small enough for my pockets. This would have been an iPhone4S if they would have went with a 4 inch screen. Stop trying to get me to buy both a phone and a tablet. I had a tablet and hardly used it, I only need a large phone not two data plans.
