Siri can now control Plex media playback using the Siri Proxy. In case you missed it earlier, a developer created a SiriProxy to control a thermostat and then made the code available for others to use.
The SiriProxy stands in between your iPhone 4S and Apple’s servers. It then intercepts Siri voice commands. This proxy enables additional commands to be added to Siri’s repitoire without any input from Apple. It has been demonstrated as a tool to start cars and even control third-party apps.
The latest video shows Siri controlling media playback on a TV which is hooked up to a Plex enabled system. Plex is multi-platform software to organize and play back local and online media. The developer uses Siri via the Siri Proxy to play movies and TV Shows using the Plex command line interface.
The most impressive part of the demonstration is the speed the media plays after receiving the instruction from Siri. After you watch the video, you will have no doubt that Siri is the future for the Apple TV or of course the often rumored Apple TV set.

Are we going to have a post everyday about what Siri can do with a proxy! Is it not safe to assume that it can do everything from start the car to flush the toilet with the correct hardware??? I don't think we need vapid posts about what random feature Siri can do today because three dudes in their grandmothers basement added a wifi modular to their toaster, "Siri toast"! Enough already if you don't have anything usefull to say just leave it blank!

Yea, unless you guys are posting a link or how-to so we can all use Siri proxy I could give two sh**s about what one person can do at home with their network and their server. And frankly I am sick of these posts as well.

Are you suggesting that freedom of speech should be banned, peoples right to comment positive or negative statements should be banned.
First of all, you are advocating someone's right to freedom of speech be removed and that only a one sided point of view is allowed to be posted.
Democracy has is basis in having opposing opinions and people do have their right to make a statement that is not all positive and happy. Without opposing points of view there would never be debate and in the real world it is debate that allows things to happen, for the better or worst.
The fact is that the 'negative' posts that you make a statement about simply voice and opinion that it will become very repetitive if we keep seeing posts every time someone comes up with a way to make SIRI operate this equipment or that equipment.
It is actually a good comment because it is not a major leap is how this is done to operate any device if you have the proper equipment.
I certainly don't want a demonstration of how someone is using SIRI to flush the lavatory after they have taken a dump so they don't have to do it themselves. LOL

Actually, since TIPB is a private enterprise they have every right to block whatever they want. "Freedom of speech" prohibits the US Government form restricting speech, not private individuals.
