How to change the default volume for voice navigation in Maps for iPhone

How to change the default volume for voice navigation in Maps for iPhone

If you use Apple Maps for iPhone, odds are you use the voice navigation feature as well. Depending on how you use it, the default volume may be too low to use without an external speaker or too loud if you're using your car speakers.

You have the option to adjust this default setting whenever you'd like. Here's how:

  1. Launch the Settings app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll down a ways and tap on Maps.
  3. Here you'll see an option for Navigation Voice Volume. Here you can adjust the loudness of the default volume Maps will use.

If at anytime you'd like to override the volume, you can of course use the volume controls to do so.

How to change the default volume for voice navigation in Maps for iPhone

Hi Allyson
Would you know why the apple maps voice never comes out of my car speakers via blue tooth. My google maps works fine via car speakers !! Any help or reasons for this. I am from UK.

When on Bluetooth (or USB audio, for that matter) you need to have the car stereo on, it is treated as audio.

I would like to see an option to always use the iPhone speaker, like Waze.

Ally, is there a jailbreak for that? Might be enough to entice me to JB.

I wish there was a way to switch Google Maps with Apple Maps to integrate with Siri without jailbreaking.

I'm on 6.1.3 and mine look exactly like that. The 1st step pic shows clicking on Maps app, don't do that, instead open settings app like written step 1 shows. Don't know if that is the confusion that has you thinking yours doesn't look the same.

Hmmm, I go to settings then maps but do not see Navigation Voice Volume... I see distances, map labels and label size. I am on iphone 3gs and ios 6.1.3(10B329) with ATT and do not have that featue. May be it is the 3GS?

I wish i could define the volume via a slider, rather than the 3 arbitrary levels they provide. When hooked up to my car, there is a world of different between Normal and Low. Normal actually sounds quite loud to me, especially when I am trying to listen to a podcast, which then fades out, and the Siri voice is 2x as loud as the podcast was (i usually have my iPhones volume set at around 85% to prevent bass distortion, then adjust via the car stereo from that point). Setting it to Low, however, made the nav voice barely audible.
