iPad 3G, GSM Unlocked, No Contract AT&T Pricing $15 for 256MB, $30 Unlimited

So, if you're already paying for unlimited 3G usage on iPhone, you still have to pay for unlimited 3G on iPad? Pass.

Everywhere I go has wifi, work, home and school. I don't think I would need 3g on this device and on my iphone. At least there is no contract, so if you wanted to one month you could get the service for 15 bucks.

the iPad seems nice and everything, but tbh, I feel that the iPhone was gimped on purpose to make "room" for this 3rd category of mobile devices. Kinda disappointing to see the 4.0 not even mentioned, like its being shafted or something.
If this does prove to be the philosophy behind the iPhone vs. the iPad, I might have to jump to Android.
Don't get me wrong, the iPad does sound and look amazing, but I don't have room for it in my life. Between the iMac and iPhone, i'm pretty much covered except for very few things I wish the iPhone to have (but these little things do not warrant the purchase of a whole new device.
I hope my prediction is wrong, but when was the last firmware upgrade? :/

yummy pricing. ha!, see the rumor about a verizon islate is...a rumor. so if there are still folks there trolling, get on with it. if the ipad and iphone ever get within your shores that will not be soon. so quench the thirst already.

Disappointing event. The iPad is great and all but the choice of getting the "breakthrough deal with AT&T" ruins it. I'm tired of poor service on my iPhone and this basically says "forget about a Verizon iPhone". One word. Android. Sorry Apple.

Yeah, just as I had suspected; I guess we can kiss goodbye those rumors about Apple's carrier exclusivity with AT&T ending any time in the foreseeable future. So, just to clarify: the 3G version will ONLY work on AT&T's GSM frequency (and not T-Mobile's)? 'Cos if that's the case, then I'll just get the Wi-Fi version and stick with T-Mo.

They really need to add the $14.99 pricing as an option to the iPhone. This would make things more affordable for those primarily on wi-fi and cause other to watch their bandwidth possibly solving some of ATT's bandwidth related problems.

Jailbreak and use the app that turns the iPhone into a wireless hotspot. MyWi and PDAnet come to mind. I'd rather not pay AT&T more...

Not everything I'd hoped, but I want one.
I use 2000-2500MB/month on my iPhone as it is, so the cheaper plan won't work for me. Another $30 data plan it a bit much. I'm leaning toward just tethering with MyWi or PDAnet, like CvGz suggested.
Another option would be just putting my iPhone's SIM card in the iPad when I need 3G. Is there a reason why that wouldn't work?
They should offer a $15 unlimited plan for current iPhone customers, I'd be willing to pay that.
I wonder how long we'll have to wait for a jailbreak?
I'm looking forward to checking out the iPad simulator on the SDK!

Hey the sim card from your iphone would not work. Apple said its a microSIM technology. But i could be wrong.

Okay, I'm paying for AT&T now with a contract and if I add the iPad I pay more. WHY? It's highly unlikely I'll be using bandwidth on both at the same time. Love the pad, would buy the pad, but not the AT&T extra. Bottom line...probably won't do a pad and I'm sad about that.

Terry asked a good question. It's nice to not have a contract, but chances are if I decide to go with AT&T for data, I'll want it indefinitely, so how about $199 for the low end 3G iPad with two year contract as another option?

it will get cheaper too, if AT&T is offering $30 unlimited, I am willing to bet they will offer $15 unlimited iPad tethering with a iPhone... This is the tethering announcement we have been waiting for and why they stalled....

Just an fyi...AT&T's $99 unlimited voice plan for Iphone was reduced to $69 on Jan 18th. It was NOT being announced and AT&T phone reps have been instructed NOT to mentioned it unless specifically questioned by customer. Another AT&T customer friendly moment. Help Verizon....

WHAT TRULY ASTOUNDS ME IS THAT APPLE REMAINS IN BED WITH THE NEXT TO WORST CELLPHONE PROVIDER. A.T.T.! THEY'RE SO BRILLIANT, YET THEY CONTINUE TO DO THIS. WHY? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHY?! IT'S LIKE BUYING A LAMBORGHINI, MASERATI OR BUGATTI, ONLY TO DRIVE AROUND IN A PARKING LOT. I GUARANTEE IF APPLE EVER SEVERS THE UMBILICAL CORD, A.T.T. IS A GONER. FOR SURE!

i really love apple and i have used 2g, 3g, 3gs, im yet to get the Ipad and im wondering about the 3g on ipad cos there is nothing like ATT in Ghana not even an apple store, the question is, can any network provider do the work for 3g on ipad? and why wont apple come to ghana? can u imaging i still cant get common itunes account to make common purchases. apple should consider people who live outside europe and America. come to GHANA

I am looking into getting a unlocked Ipad 3G. I have read the above comments regarding the different frequencies of ATT & T-Mobile. My question is can you change the frequency on the Ipad. Also does anyone sell pay as you go chips that work on
ATT for the Data Plan?
