So are you getting a new iPad?

As part of their iPad event today, Apple announced their super sweet new iPad. While some may be lining up next week or pre-ordering today, some may prefer to go for a discounted iPad 2 or keep their existing model. We want to know what everyone in the iMore nation thinks of the new iPad. Will you be picking one up?

Just like the iPhone 4S, the new iPad looks a lot like the old iPad, only a tiny difference in the thickness and angle of the taper. Does that make you think twice about buying? Would a new casing design have made a difference? The new iPad did get an amazing Retina display, 4G LTE network option, a new Apple A5X processor, and a camera that finally doesn't suck (and actually looks pretty good).

Each change by itself could be dismissed as incremental (except that Retina display, that's just crazy cool). Taken together, they could just make the overall experience better enough that the new iPad goes from nice to have to must have, especially for geeks.

So what's your answer, iMore nation? Are you getting the new iPad or are you taking a pass? Vote up top and give me the details in the comments below!

Update: Poll closed. Wow were you split!

If you already own ipad2 do you buy new iPad
That gives you more perfect answer

JimmyD says:

Not that it's not worth it... I'm still more than happy with my 2. If only I was rich enough to upgrade every year... I probably still wouldn't.
I want to see how 4G works out (my 2 is wi-fi only).
I'll upgrade in a year or so.

tuscanidream says:

I would get one if I didn't already have an iPad 2. All of the addition features of the iPad 4g are awesome... But they improved the eareas of the iPad that was already good. What about the areas of the iPad 2 that were not so good? Such as the front camera being VGA quality, and the Verizon/AT&T split.?! Still here in the new iPad 4G. I'll wait next year and see what it brings.

Casey says:

I'm going to consider buying it even though I have an iPad 2 already, however when I got the iPad 2 I went with the 3G option and this time around I won't be going that route. I've never put a sim card into my iPad and I probably never will. AT&T in the US makes it difficult to go into one of their stores, as a Canadian and buy a micro-SIM to use on a prepaid, on and off basis. This was my primary use for the 3G function and it hasn't been used at all. This time around I'll definitely be going with the Wi-Fi only version to save the extra wasted money.

No I don't think it's worth upgrading from the iPad 2 if I had a 1gen iPad then maybe . I'm not wowed by the 4g , I just like wifi not going to pay the extreme amount of money for the monthly charge to Verizon for limited data !

TiNuts says:

No touchy-feely electrostatic stuff, no new iPad.

I'm refreshing the Apple Store every 2 minutes...consider that an indication. lmbo.
My purpose is for development testing but I'm going to try it as my primary tablet [Galaxy Tab 10.1 is right now] and maybe replace my Tab.

KC says:

Not me. Absolutely underwhelmed by the presentation. I don't own an iPad now (just a 4S) and the "new iPad" doesn't stir up any yearning to get one even now. Smaller screen, yes, but I'll just rock the phone version for the time being.

nolan.b says:

As ipad 2 owner, i'll skip a gen. For original ipad owners would be worth it.

iSRS says:

Yes - First iPad here. I nearly bought an iPad 2 last fall, but knew the new/3 would be out in March. Worth the wait...

WheresTheSpleenAgain says:

Yep...made a good deal with my mom. Sold her netbook (along with a couple other random electronics I had laying around) ---> I can buy a new iPad ---> I can give her my 1st gen iPad. Good deal all around.

Not gonna answer the poll because all the qualifcating phrases don't apply.
No i'm not getting it but not because "it's not worth it." I'm not getting it because i can't afford it and i don't want a tablet. But it's not cause there's something wrong with what they offered.

Thorndy says:

Yes but it's called "The New iPad" not iPad. lol
