What kind of case do you want for your iPhone 4?

What kind of case do you want for the iPhone 4?online survey

What kind of case do you want for your iPhone 4? Reason we thought about it is iPhone 4 has a glass front and back that we think is some unicorn tear infused admantium/transparent aluminum hybrid, but the moment he saw it Chad's reaction was to shriek "oh my goodness no there's two sides to shatter if I drop it" (which Dieter's imagination went immediately to ball-peen hammers, don't ask!)

Quick Review: Apple iPad Dock

Picking up the iPad I was tasked with deciding the most useful accessory for the iPad. For me, that accessory was the iPad Dock. I just couldn't fathom the iPad just laying on my desk, I needed a place to set my iPad as well as take advantage of the other features it allowed me to display.

The dock comes by itself, no USB cable or charger; you just get the basics. The footprint is larger than the iPhone dock since the iPad is substantially heavier. The bottom of the dock has the typical "sticky" finish so it does not budge from its place. I would estimate the angle of the dock to be approximately 60 degrees so it is not exactly upright, but close. The back of the dock has the standard 30-pin connector. You can use the USB cable and charger included with the iPad to plug into the wall or computer for charging. You also have a Line Out to plug into a stereo tuner.

Once you have placed the iPad securely in the dock, it has the familiar green charging battery graphic. If enabled in Settings, you have the new picture frame button that turns the iPad into a beautiful digital photo showcase with animated slideshows.

If you don't want your iPad just laying on your desk, you can't go wrong with the iPad Dock. Oh, and don't forget, the dock just might come in handy when you start typing with the Apple Bluetooth keyboard...

CES Day 01 Gallery -- iPhone Accessories at iLounge Pavilion

The iPhone has made it's first big, official splash at CES 2010, courtesy of the iLounge Pavilion, set up by the fine folks at iLounge. I've only spent half a day walking around so far, but you can't throw an iPhone without hitting a major player at a big booth showing off some amazing new iPhone accessories.

Here's a quick rundown of what I've seen so far:

  • Etymotic, well known for their high-end in-ear headsets has incorporated the 3-button iPhone/iPod-style controller onto their cables giving you full volume, pause/play, etc. They're also offering an entry-level model without the same system, but with excellent sound quality.
  • HyperMac is offering a new external batteries with USB-out for iPhone.
  • ExtremeMac is doing a range of charging as well, lots of options.
  • Seidio is bringing the vibrant colored case love.
  • Case-mate is offering a design-it-yourself option for cases, also a no-squirt-liquid-required body skin, and Hug, a non-proprietary inductive charging solution where you can buy their case and pad, or from another member of the consortium so you can mix and match. Nissan cup holders will also support it!
  • Gelaskins is bringing in National Geographic and Marvel Comics licenses.
  • Music skins is bringing Beatles licenses.
  • Otterbox is offering lighter, but still armor-like solutions for those who want a little more convenience.
  • Incipio is going with multiple materials and bold designs.
