It looks like the rivalry between Apple with its Beats by Dre division and Bose will be heating up further. According to a spotted job position from Bose Corporation, the audio company is looking to enter the music streaming space with its own service, which could rival existing popular offerings like iTunes Radio, Beats Music, Google Play Music, Spotify, Pandora, and others.
If a new report is to be believed, Apple Stores may start stocking Bose products again in time for the holidays. The report comes from French site iGen.fr, which says its sources have indicated that Bose products could hit Apple Store shelves as early as next week.
Looks like the out of court settlement between Bose and Apple-owned Beats over patent disputes wasn't the final straw in the on-going battle between the two companies, as Apple has now removed Bose products from its online and retail stores.
Apple's Beats and Bose have agreed to settle a headphone patent dispute. The disagreement comes over noise canceling tech inside Beats headphones that Bose claims infringed their patents. Bose started legal proceedings in June of this year, but that appears to all be over now.
Looks like there might be a little bit of legal trouble for Beats and ultimately, Apple in the next little while. A new report coming out of CNBC and backed up by PriorSmart shows Bose has filed legal suit against Beats and is looking to assert five different patents against the organization. The patents in question revolve around noise-canceling technology used in Beats.
Bose has entered the WiFi music system space currently dominated by Sonos with their its latest product, the SoundTouch. Essentially the same principle as a Sonos system, the Bose SoundTouch system comprises three different speaker units that hook into your WiFi network to allow streaming from selected Internet music services as well as using AirPlay to send music from your iOS device.
Bose has started to offer a new version of its hugely popular SoundDock music system specifically for devices that use the Lightning dock connector. The SoundDock Series III digital music system, to give it its full title is a premium sound system and a welcome addition as devices with Lightning dock connectors are very thin on the ground at the moment.
