AT&T working with Apple to cram 4G indicator onto iPhone 4S statusbar?

As TiPb feared, This Is My Next says AT&T may indeed have plans to seize some competitive advantage over Verizon and Sprint by using a little faux 4G, just as they've been doing with Android for a while now.

Did Apple delay Facebook's new iPhone app, iPad app and iOS web platform?

Facebook has reportedly had their iPad app ready to go for some time and may have been planning its announcement around Apple's Lets Talk iPhone event this past Tuesday. Same goes for their iOS web platform Project Spartan. Robert Scoble suggested last night that Steve Jobs passing may have had something to do with Facebook's non-announcement.

Wordpress for iPhone, iPad gets updated

Wordpress has updated their iOS app to version 2.9. The app now comes with a row above the keyboard with a number of rich-text and formatting options, including the ability to insert links and a new fullscreen editing mode.

It's easy to manage your WordPress blog or site from your iOS device. With WordPress for iOS, you can moderate comments, create or edit posts and pages, and add images or videos with ease. All you need is a WordPress.com blog or a self-hosted WordPress.org site running 2.9.2 or higher.

  • A Feature-Rich Content Editor. Now you can easily format text, make bulleted lists, create links, and do all kinds of other fancy stuff. (It’s about time, right?)
  • Full Screen Editing. No more teeny-weeny content editor — now you can view more text at a time while you post on the go.
  • Reading Made Easy. Keeping track of your favorite blogs has never been easier. Browse all the latest posts on blogs you follow in one place, right from your iPhone.
  • Quick Photo will now use the post format for images (if your theme supports it).
  • You can now post pictures that you’ve already taken with Quick Photo.
  • Your stats referrer links and comment links can now be opened right from this app.

I won't be using the new features too much, as I like to use Markdown for Mail on my iPad for the right formatting whenever I blog on-the-go, but I'm sure many bloggers using WordPress will welcome this update with open arms. Wordpress has lacked many of the features most bloggers see as a necessity in their iOS app until this update, so go grab it and start playing around!

Wordpress for iOS is available for free on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Facebook unveils major changes at f8 conference

During Facebook's annual f8 conference today CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed an all-new, completely redesigned profile including the "Timeline" to better describe who you are and what you're interested in. Facebook will also introduce better app integration across the platform and we'll be seeing changes to the "Like" button as well.

So what are these changes all about and how soon can we expect to see them hit the iPhone app?

Skype admits to iPhone app security problem, releasing a fix "soon"

Skype has stated they are aware of a serious cross-site scripting vulnerability within the chat feature for Skype on the iPhone. The security hole could allow for malicious JavaScript code to access to your address book and is known to affect versions 3.0.1 and below.

Skype reached out to TechCrunch to say they're hard at work on getting an update pushed to the App Store.

We are working hard to fix this reported issue in our next planned release which we hope to roll out imminently. In the meantime we always recommend people exercise caution in only accepting friend requests from people they know and practice common sense internet security as always.

The funny thing is, Skype has known about the issue for a while now. AppSec Consulting security researcher Phil Purviance helped discover the problem and let Skype know about it almost a month ago. Skype responded saying they would release an update earlier this month, but we're nearing the end of September and there's no update to be found.

Here's hoping Skype gets on this quick and pushes out an update soon, but in the meantime check out the video below detailing how the vulnerability works.

Facebook changes now appearing within Facebook for iPhone

Facebook has yet again changed the way the news feed functions and manages content. Love it or hate it, these changes are also starting to appear in the Facebook for iPhone app as well. While there is no update from the App Store, it appears a lot of the changes were made from the back end. Your news feed will now filter most recent news at the top followed by older stories.

No, ABC Family TV hasn't successfully ported iOS Safari to an Android Droid Charge

They've just proven they have more Photoshop licenses than gadget sense.

[Thanks Greg!]
