Ipad 4

iPad 4 unboxing and hardware hands-on

Half a year later and a generation ahead, the iPad 4 is here and while it's the same in almost every discernible way to the previous iPad 3, there are a few things absolutely worth discerning. First, it's got the new Lightning connector. Second, it's got a 720p FaceTime HD camera on the front. Third, it's got an all new, all powerful Apple A6X processor inside (and the forthcoming LTE version will have an all new, all international LTE chipset to boot). But can you judge that particular book by this cover? Watch!

iPad 4 gets a teardown, reveals that not much has changed

The iPad 4 has been given the same teardown treatment the iPad mini received by the guys over at iFixIt. In terms of repairability, it earned the same 2 out of 10 score that the 3rd generation iPad received. Other than a new dock connector and a few minor internal differences, much of the iPad 4's design remained unchanged from its predecessor.

iPad mini is here, and some thoughts on non-Retina

Apple has begun selling the iPad 4 and iPad mini around the world, and while crowds have been much, much smaller than iPhone launches, which stands to reason, they've also been smaller than previous iPad launches. This is Apple's second full-size iPad launch of the year, however, and pre-orders have taken a lot of wind out of in-store, launch day crowds.

iPad buyers guide (Late 2012)

There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to buying a new iPad mini, iPad 4 or any tablet for that matter. Once you've decided you do indeed need a new tablet, you still have to decide if the new tablet you need is an iPad. While we still believe the iPad is the best choice for most of the people most of the time, there are a lot of other tablets on the market these days and there might be one better suited to some people's individual needs. If you do decide the iPad is perfect for you, then comes the choice of model (iPad mini, iPad 4, or iPad 2), color (white & silver or black & slate), storage capacity (16GB, 32GB, or 64GB), and carrier network (in the U.S., AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint are the major ones). And what do you do with your old, broken tablet when your new, hot iPad arrives?

Enter iMore's iPad buyers guide, late 2012 edition. If you need help deciding what to buy, we've got your back. And if you've already decided, just bookmark, email, Facebook, or Tweet this so we can help your friends and family and you can get on with enjoying your new iPad!

In addition to the new Nexus 4 smartphone, which we've already put up against the iPhone 5, Google and Samsung have announced the brand new Nexus 10 big boy tablet now as well. So experience vs. ecosystem, integrated vs. licenses, yadda vs. yadda, we're stacking that up against Apple's just-announced iPad 4 to get a sense of where exactly the different platforms are going, and what they're needing, hardware-wise.

And, of course, we brought the Microsoft Surface and BlackBerry Playbook along for the ride.

Check the specs up top, then hit the link below for our Mobile Nations sibling site, Android Central's, complete Nexus 10 coverage.

Initial iPad mini pre-order stock sold out, new orders shipping in 2 weeks

Apple appears to have sold out of their initial iPad mini pre-order stock, with their latest, smallest tablet no longer available with immediate shipping from Apple.com. The iPad mini W-Fii became available for pre-order on Friday, October 26, and while the white version seemed almost immediately supply constrained, the black version seemed in plentiful supply until today.
