Apple to live stream October 16 event, new iPads and Macs expected

Apple's second special event in as many months is slated for October 16, where the Cupertino giant is expected to show off new iPads and Macs. For those wanting to follow the event as it happens live, Apple has mentioned that it will be streaming the event live{.nofollow} on its website.

The event promises to be full of device announcements, with the Retina iMac rumored to make its debut, as well as a thinner iPad that will allegedly be offered in a golden color variant. Touch ID is also said to be making its way to the iPad.

What announcement are you looking forward to the most?

  • There's nothing wrong with the current generation iPads, so I don't have much interest there. The fascination with thinning things down is a bit unnecessary if you ask me, they're already thin enough. All I'm waiting for is yosemite. Sent from the iMore App
  • i have to agree with you on the thinness of these devices. i wish they would stop shrinking them and start putting bigger batteries in. i'll gladly give up a mm or 3 if i can get 15-20 hours per charge.
  • iPads to have Touch ID and a gold version. And hopefully a better camera. I hope we see the next generation iPod Touch. I hate to see legacies die ! Sent from the iMore App
  • I know right? The last iPod Touch was released in 2012 and it still has a A5 chip. Sent from the iMore App

  • We need a new Apple TV, the apps and games available on chromecast and Amazon Fire TV is making the last Apple TV look real lazy. Sent from the iMore App
  • Agreed!! Sent from the iMore App
  • But the Apple TV mirrors everything on your screen. Therefore you can play any game on your iOS device on the Apple TV. Sent from the iMore App
  • iPad with Touch ID. I'm hoping for split screen multi tasking as well. I'd like to see an updated Apple TV with more onboard storage so I can download movies rather than stream as my Internet connection isn't the best. Sent from the iMore App
  • Apple TV with a remote similar to the app(a screen)
  • Instead of concentrating in fixing iOS and is os x why waste time every year upgrading iPhones and iPad. That's why all this is happening Because they rushing, take your time apple c'mon Sent from the iMore App
  • Hopefully they have someone new in charge of live stream and preorders Sent from the iMore App
  • TouchID on an iPad. Overdue.
  • The only reason I did not upgrade to an iPad Air last year, no way I'm going to have Touch ID in my iPhone and not on a new iPad

  • Some extra bandwidth would be nice, so it actually works this time. If everyone tries to watch it at the same time, it's likely that most won't be able to watch it at all.
  • Can't wait Sent from the iMore App
  • A Gold iPad?, NO!!!!! Sent from the iMore App
  • I love to see super thin MBA Retina HD 17" with broadwell!
(Hmm, imore has no emoticon here).
  • Hoping for updated iPad Mini with TouchID, fairly basic stuff, still have the first gen, needs an upgrade and I really want TouchID on it. That's almost a given though isn't it? Other than that, how about a Mac Mini? One that comes with a Fusion Drive or SSD without having to both get the higher end model and pay extra for the drive.

  • iPod classic with 250GB SSD, 17' MacBook Pro, OS X Server (finally usable to share iWork documents)
  • Sadly Apple doesn't want to sell more tablets. Think about it - if they truly wanted to revive the demand they would manufacture a new must have device that would make our heads spin with possibilities. But this annual refresh business ? It's more milking of an old idea that will sell in acceptable numbers for them and it looks like that's enough for Apple. They could/should have done so many things with the iPad so I refuse to believe they're completely blind and it's a conscious decision (even though it looks like they're scared of risk recently). As others noticed the solution is simple - make it an essential device that's worth carrying with you all the time because another companion to your laptop is unacceptable. Instead of interesting improvements they left their flagship device in a state of limbo with the unimaginative boring spec bump - chip, camera, weight, chip, camera, weight etc.
