Apple opens subsidiary in Vietnam for direct iPhone distribution

Apple has opened up a subsidiary in Vietnam in order import and distribute products like the iPhone 6s Apple Watch and new iPhones directly to consumers in that country. The subsidiary, called Apple Vietnam Limited Liability, was established in late October, according to an announcement by Vietnam's national business registry.

From Reuters:

The Ho Chi Minh City-based firm will conduct wholesale businesses of various products including its signature smartphones, provide information technology and maintenance services as well as advising services, the announcement said.

This comes at a time when Vietnam is growing exponentially as a smartphone market. It is one of the fastest-growing smartphone markets in the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, Apple's sales in the country tripled in the first half of last year, which is five times the company's growth rate in India.
